The Young and the Restless snags an ousted leading lady, a General Hospital star speaks out about her replacement, and the Days of our Lives exit that really isn’t… here’s everything you missed in the world of daytime drama – with links – in the Soap Hub soap opera news wrap.

Soap Opera News: Sam I Am

A very grateful Kelly Monaco is back at work as General Hospital’s Sam. Now there’s one question on everyone’s minds: What did she really think about her temporary replacement, Lindsay Hartley?

Meanwhile, Hartley herself offered a heartfelt goodbye to GH. You can read her gracious words here.

Returns and Risings

Days of Our Lives’ Camila Banus is set to head off the canvas as Gabi next week, and so is her TV brother Galen Gering (Rafe). Fortunately, there’s already good news about both of their futures in Salem.

Another departed Salemite is set to rise from the dead, but is it for real, or just a fantasy? Plus, Brandon Beemer (Shawn) gave us an update about his own status with the show.

Hope for Courtney

There’s barely been time to miss Courtney Hope, who just left the role of Sally Spectra on The Bold and the Beautiful. She won’t be off our screens for very long, though, and she wound up in a familiar place.

Deidre and Maurice Get Candid

How does Deidre Hall (Marlena) feel about Chandler Massey (Will) and Freddie Smith’s (Sonny) exits from Days of our Lives? The daytime drama icon was very candid on the move, which she calls “a serious mistake.”

Maurice Benard’s (Sonny, GH) wife, Paula, joined him on the latest episode of his online podcast, State of Mind. The couple discussed their marriage and the tough moments that they’ve endured.

Changing Courses?

The more things change, the more they stay the same? BB’s John McCook (Eric) shared some insight about on-set protocols and body language from before and after COVID-19.

Righting A Wrong

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Nichelle Nichols, best known as Lieutenant Uhura on the original Star Trek series and as Neil’s mother on Y&R. Family members need help fighting a man whom they claim tricked the actress into signing over her estate.

The Social Scene

Add Sean Kanan (ex-Deacon, YR and BB) to the list of soap opera stars with an online imposter. Check out the warning that the actor shared with his fans.

Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, YR) is taking a break from social media because she’s tired of being verbally attacked. Here’s what happened.

Test Results

Sal Stowers (Lani, DAYS) started studying for her National Academy of Sports Medicine certification a year ago. She finally took the test, revealing the results on Instagram.

Family Updates

Melissa Ordway (Abby, YR) set the record straight regarding her family’s potential move to Nashville, and she opened up about her daughter Olivia’s emergency surgery.

There was some sad news for YR’s Jordi Vilasuso (Rey) and his wife, Kaitlin. The couple recently suffered a tragic loss.

GH Behind the Scenes

A local ABC news crew was on the GH set to get a feel for production protocol post-COVID-19. Actors like Josh Swickard (Chase), Laura Wright (Carly), and Kirsten Storms (Maxie) weighed in.

Maura West (Ava, GH) gave some insight into the GH writers’ status during the coronavirus shutdown, and she offered her thoughts on her character’s vandalized portrait, too.

The Alums Report

Fresh off his long run on The CW series Supernatural, Jensen Ackles – remembered fondly as the original Eric Brady on Days of our Lives – has a new project: He’s joining Amazon series, The Boys.

You’ll want to check out the recent PCPD reunion. It featured two of the soap opera’s all-time best cops, Vinessa Antoine (Jordan) and Ryan Paevey (Nathan).

In other Ryan Paevey news, the actor has completed another Hallmark movie. Fans will be able to catch him in A Timeless Christmas, scheduled to air later this year.

Branching Out

BB’s Denise Richards (Shauna) is headed to Spain for a film project, Glow and Darkness. Co-star Ashley Jones (Bridget) is off to Georgia to work on a TV movie.

Notes from the Past

Eden McCoy (Josslyn) shared some notes from her first day working at GH, and it was a who’s who of her Port Charles relatives.

Song Land

Kiara Barnes (Zoe, BB) has a brand-new single, prompting images of the Forrester Creations model as a Cowboy Princess.

Days of our Lives veteran Gloria Loring (ex-Liz) is releasing a new album. Believe it or not, it’s the actress/singer’s first EP.

A Long Battle with COVID

Emma Samms (ex-Holly, GH) tested positive for COVID-19 in March, yet months later, she still hasn’t completely recovered from the virus.
