It looks like Linsday Hartley’s time replacing Kelly Monaco as Sam McCall is coming to an end on General Hospital and the beloved soap veteran wants fans to know exactly how she feels about her latest daytime experience.
Lindsay Hartley Says Goodbye To Sam
It was shocking for fans at the end of July when news was revealed that Monaco was having a hard time with her mask and needed to quarantine for 14 days and would be temporarily replaced by former Passions star Hartley (ex-Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald). Hartley didn’t miss a beat and stepped into the pivotal role flawlessly.
But she recently took to Instagram to let fans know that it’s time to say goodbye and shared her gratitude for the opportunity. “Thank you @generalhospitalabc for the fortunate experience to play Sam,” wrote Hartley, adding “and especially during this moment in time. 🙏🏻 It was a fun ride. 💜”
Part of that fun had to have been the chance to do a scene with her former Passions bestie, Brook Kerr, who plays Portia on GH but was Whitney Russell Harris on the NBC soap. She captured that fun moment in another Instagram post writing, “A passionate reunion. ❤️🙏🏻 @brookkerr #passions #besties #theresaandwhitney …I dare say, ‘it’s fate.’ 😉” Of course, Passions fans know that’s a nod to her character Theresa.

While temporary recasts aren’t always embraced by fans, the reaction to Hartley online was actually quite positive and many wanted to give the star their own personal thank yous for a job well done during strange COVID-19 times.
“They need to cast you as a new character on the show! You did such an amazing job! I would love to see you on the show permanently!” wrote Instagram user jen___018 while Twitter user @JenniferPicetti wrote, “Thank YOU for your bravery, for taking on the role of a beloved character (one who’s portrayer is equally loved) and for doing so during a pandemic! I’m sure I can speak for many #GH fans when I say, I hope you’ll be back. Stay safe!!”
