On Days of our Lives, Johnny and Chanel finally got the moment they’ve been clawing toward for months — the adoption went through, the papers were signed, and Baby Tesoro officially became Trey, aka John III. It was a rare Salem victory that didn’t require any blackmail, kidnapping, or blackouts, just a young couple struggling against the odds. Carson Boatman stepped into interview mode this week and hinted that this chapter is only warming up.

Key Takeaways

  • Johnny and Chanel made Trey’s adoption official.
  • Carson Boatman says he hopes to stay on DAYS for many more years.
  • He hinted Trey’s storyline will bring big drama.
  • Boatman calls performing with The Day Players a major joy.
  • He’s grateful to be part of the show’s long-running legacy.

Johnny’s Not Going Anywhere

Boatman spoke with E! Entertainment during the 60th anniversary celebration, and he had that relaxed, almost relieved tone actors get when they finally get to say out loud that they’re happy right where they are. Five years in, he didn’t pretend he saw it coming. “I hope for another five years,” he stated when asked what he thought about longevity on the show when he first got the part.

Boatman continued with, “I mean, at least, right?” He then revealed news that will have fans jumping for joy: “I’ll take 25 or 50 if we can get it.” It sounded like a guy who truly likes the character he plays and the world he’s building inside it.

Then came the storyline talk. Boatman brought up Trey the way new parents talk about the kid who just figured out how feet work — proud, a little stunned, and already bracing for the next curveball. “We just got the baby,” he said, before tossing up the warning flares: “I think there’s going to be a lot of drama that’s going to surround that.” It’s DAYS — understatement is part of the job.

A DiMera With a Guitar and a Touring Schedule

What he didn’t downplay was the joy he gets from The Day Players, the band he performs in with Eric Martsolf (Brady), Wally Kurth (Justin), and Brandon Barash (Stefan). Boatman lit up talking about it — how it started at a musical fan event, how he and Kurth basically looked at each other and said, “We should just do this ourselves,” and how the whole thing snowballed into a touring act.

“It’s just a bonus that I also have the honor of being in a band with these three other great guys,” he said. “We have so much fun.” And with 10 new shows lined up for early 2026, the “fun” is turning into a whole second lane of his career.

Ultimately, he shared his enthusiasm for continuing to bring Johnny’s adventures to life, declaring, “I’m so thankful to be even just a small part of this incredible legacy that is Days of our Lives.”
