A Word from Roger Froilan
How Author Began Career: I started out working in cable access television and moved over into audio/visual services within hotels. I’ve also been the operations manager and program manager at Saugus Cable Television in Saugus, MA. I host/produce three podcasts, a live monthly video show, and three blogs. Having been a fan of General Hospital since 1981, I eventually transitioned into being a soap opera news writer, and enjoy every minute of it.
Personal Interests: My shows include the podcasts: Then Is Now, in which we discuss pop culture of the past and how it relates today; The East Meets the West, in which we discuss Shaw Bros. Kung Fu films and spaghetti westerns from the 1960s to the 1980s; and The Cult Movie Lounge in which we analyze cult films from the 70s and 80s. My monthly live video show is called Fright Lounge in which we discuss all horror media, for the seasoned horror fan as well as newcomers. I also write three blogs: Then Is Now, which is pop culture-based, The Films of John Saxon, discussing the late actor’s genre work, and the 1970s Horror Film Blog in which I review every horror movie released from 1970 through 1979. I also collect TV Guides and have a Facebook page dedicated to scans from the old magazines, as well as old movie newspaper ads, a lost art.
