In the October 30 episode of Days of our Lives, EJ’s Halloween got considerably stranger after his subconscious staged a full DiMera family horror show. He dreamed that he captured Kristen, tied her to a chair, and came dangerously close to killing her before Cat talked him down. EJ woke up safely on the couch, but the episode’s final moments suggested the nightmare may not have been entirely finished with him.

Key Takeaways

  • EJ dreamed that he captured Kristen and prepared to kill her.
  • Cat became the person who stopped EJ from crossing that line in his nightmare.
  • EJ woke up before anything happened and brushed the dream aside.
  • A mysterious masked figure appeared outside the mansion after EJ and Cat left the room.

What Happened on DAYS

EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) dreamed that he caught Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) inside the mansion after she tried to burn Stefano’s portrait. The situation escalated quickly, with Kristen tied to a chair and EJ threatening to kill her if she ever hurt Johnny (Carson Boatman) again. Cat (AnnaLynne McCord) walked in, realized what was happening, and managed to talk EJ down before taking the hi-tech torch away from him.

EJ eventually cut Kristen loose and threw her out. Cat told him she was proud of him, and the two passionately kissed. Then EJ suddenly woke up on the couch with Cat calling his name, revealing that everything involving Kristen had been a nightmare.

Why It Matters

The dream says plenty about where EJ’s head is right now. Johnny just rejected him, Kristen remains a threat in his mind, and EJ clearly believes violence may be the only language his sister understands. The interesting part is that even in his own nightmare, Cat became the person capable of stopping him.

That also says something about how EJ sees Cat. She was not frightened away by the worst version of him. She challenged him, pulled him back, and then stayed. Whether EJ realizes it or not, his subconscious apparently handed Cat the job of keeping him from becoming completely DiMera.

The Fallout

Back in reality, Cat explained that EJ seemed to be having a nightmare. He claimed he could not remember it, then suggested they make popcorn before watching Halloween. Considering what he had just dreamed, Michael Myers may have been the less troubling guest in the house.

Then the real Halloween sting arrived. As EJ and Cat headed for the kitchen, a hooded figure wearing a mask that strongly resembled a Guy Fawkes-style face moved up to the French doors and watched from outside. We do not yet know who is under that mask, but after EJ dreamed about Kristen coming for his family, waking up may not have made him nearly as safe as he thought.
