Hits and Misses Breakdown: June 1-5, 2026
Beyond the Gates
HIT: Thursday’s flashback-heavy origin story. This was an episode we have been needing to see. Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett), Dani (Karla Mosley), Hayley (Marquita Goings), Randy (Maurice P. Kerry), Naomi (Arielle Prepetit), and Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) told the story of what happened to bring down Dani and Bill’s marriage before BTG premiered. We saw how Hayley and Randy’s con began (her original mark was Joey!). Hayley’s meet-cute with Naomi, which led to them becoming besties. How Dani basically welcomed Hayley into her home. And how Hayley and Bill started their affair. We even got to see how it all went wrong, with Dani and Chelsea walking in on Bill and Hayley in her own home, in her own bedroom. It explained so many things. What a satisfactory hour of TV.
MISS: Naomi is still not revealing her BRCA gene status. Naomi has had plenty of chances to come clean, and her own skewed logic is telling her not to share this part of herself, not even with her husband. Sigh.
Honorable Mention (HIT): Monica is the new chief of staff at Garland Memorial. What a great idea. Shanice’s Aunt Monica (Iona Morris) is an expert in her field, but we also get the sense that the doctor is a no-nonsense, no-drama kind of person. She’s exactly who the hospital needs after Lia (Cecelia Specht) turned out to be knee-deep in the Red Market plasma ring.

The Bold and the Beautiful
HIT: Katie unleashes facts and anger during her confrontation with Brooke. The confrontation between Katie (Heather Tom) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) started calm but soon crescendoed with Katie spitting out facts about her sister. She accused Brooke of always making Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) her number one priority, even over her daughter. She basically called Brooke a bad mother. And after Brooke slapped her sister, Katie’s anger reached an almost demonic level. It was clear that she is now resting all of Logan’s hopes for the future on Hope (Annika Noelle). She will relish having Brooke’s daughter on her side, especially if Hope can help take Logan to the top of the fashion industry. What a riveting and mesmerizing conversation, especially in a Friday episode.
MISS: R.J. fired Will. R.J. (Brayan Nicoletti) has been hitting on Will’s girlfriend and talking down to Will (Crew Morrow) ever since he returned to Los Angeles and to Forrester Creations. Yet Will was the one who was fired from Forrester for that long-overdue sucker punch. Yes, Will shouldn’t have punched him, but it did happen at Bikini Bar, not in the office. To have R.J. say the actual words was a little cruel. While we get why Ridge would support his son, Will was unfairly fired.
Honorable Mention (HIT): Will signs on to Logan. After a satsifactory shut down of his former bosses at Forrester, Will showed up at Spencer Publications and told his parents. Dollar Bill (Don Diamont) celebrated, of course. And naturally assumed Will would start at Logan. Bill’s son eventually agreed. And then Will realized that he really wanted to work there. His one-on-one conversation with his mom was lovely and uplifting.

Days of our Lives
HIT: Marlena’s dinner with Belle and Brady. This week, John’s family continued to remember him on the anniversary of his death. We were looking forward to the dinner with Marlena (Deidre Hall), Belle (Martha Madison), and Brady (Eric Martsolf). And it didn’t disappoint. Last year at this time, the grief was all-consuming for the characters and the fans. This year, they gathered at John’s favorite place, The Brady Pub, and they remembered their husband and father with sweet, fun memories, and Brady even did his John Black impression. It was a nice tribute to John and the late Drake Hogestyn.
HIT and MISS: Chanel’s health crisis. We were Team Chanel (Raven Bowens) at her doctor’s appointment. She didn’t want a one-size-fits-all treatment plan. She wanted somebody to listen to her very real concerns, and that doesn’t always happen for Black women seeking medical help. That doctor’s bedside manner was nil, and for a scary situation like Chanel’s, she needed more from him, but he wasn’t willing to give it. But then later, during her argument with Johnny (Carson Boatman), she wasn’t being very realistic about her diagnosis. It might not be a matter of waiting until after the birth. Her health may be in serious jeopardy by then. Thankfully, Paulina (Jackée Harry) suggested shopping for another doctor. It’s unclear why Chanel and Johnny didn’t think of that simple solution first.
Honorable Mention (MISS): Kate lying to Roman’s face about railroading Johnny with the plagiarism lawsuit. Why can’t Kate (Lauren Koslow) just come clean? Letting Roman (Josh Taylor) apologize to her was frustrating and wrong. She’s just making it worse for herself.

General Hospital
HIT: Lucas, Laura, and Sonny joined forces. This alliance was a lot of fun to watch. Sure, Laura (Genie Francis) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) mostly stayed in that warehouse while Lucas (Van Hansis) did the heavy lifting. But it was fun nevertheless. Lucas grabbed the incriminating evidence from Sidwell’s safe, and then Laura and Sonny burned it up. But first, they had to kidnap Pascal (Marc Forget), force him to betray Sidwell (Carlo Rota), and then fly him out of the country. It was great to see Lucas, who hates Sonny with the fire of a thousand burning suns, work with him for a common goal. And it was great to see how proud Laura was of Lucas.
MISS: Willow doubles down while Chase continues being oblivious. Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) threatens Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and what does Willow do? She offers Chase (Josh Swickard) a job as her new chief of staff. Love that Brook Lynn is now bringing Lucy (Lynn Herring) into this, because she realizes she needs help to handle the newbie congresswoman. Meanwhile, Chase remains his oblivious self. He says that he doesn’t have feelings for Willow, which is great. But he gets where Brook Lynn, his wife, is coming from, right? Unfortunately, it was beyond clear this week that Chase still sees Willow as innocent, whereas Michael (Rory Gibson) is anything but.
Honorable Mention (HIT): Once again, some great pairings. This week, Carly (Laura Wright) and Valentin (James Patrick Stuart), Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), and Nina (Cynthia Watros) and Jack (Chris McKenna) were enjoyable. Same with Michael and Jacinda (Paige Herschell), who manipulated the Willow and Chase situation beautifully. And now we have our eyes on Ava (Maura West) and Ethan (Nathan Dean).

The Young and the Restless
HIT: Adam and Sally discuss Ava. Adam (Mark Grossman) and Sally (Courtney Hope) had a deep, rich, painful conversation about Ava, the baby they lost. Sally told Adam that she wished he had heard about her current pregnancy from her. And he told her that he wished HER all the happiness (didn’t say the same about Billy [Jason Thompson]). But when Sally told Adam about dreaming about Ava, the conversation took on a whole new level of depth, heartbreak, and even an uplifting vibe. It was a great chat between exes.
MISS: Recreating The Shadow Room. The Shadow Room clone helped bring back Matt Clark’s (Roger Howarth) memories and repurposed an existing set. But we agree with the characters, it was strange to see a replica of Los Angeles’s famed The Shadow Room in Genoa City. It reminded us of the Mitch Bacall era, which wasn’t full of great memories. Holden (Nathan Owens) and Audra (Zuleyka Silver) may have killed a guy there! Maybe this new GC version can turn the original club’s bad mojo into something positive and fun. If anything, it gives the characters a new place to get into heated conversations.
Honorable Mention (HIT and MISS): Matt Clark’s memories are back. Roger Howarth continued to deliver great work as Matt struggled with his menacing memories flooding back into his life. Unfortunately, the show is doing a LOT of heavy lifting just to get Matt on the redemption track. But to redeem a character like Matt, it’s going to take some of us forgetting what we know about the character. For some, Matt will never be redeemable, so a serious suspension of disbelief could be required.
