Hits and Misses Breakdown: August 31-September 4, 2026
Beyond the Gates
HIT: Lia Whitmore’s death. Last week, it was worth a mention. It got bumped up to a hit this week. Normally, something that happens off-screen isn’t the best drama. But learning of Lia’s death gave the story a much-needed boost. And now Smitty (Mike Manning), who was one of the last to see her, reeled a bit. And he and Jacob (Jibre Hordges) were more determined than ever to discover the identity of The Impaler. Grayson (Jordi Vilasuso) freaked out. Naomi (Arielle Preptit) stressed about how it would affect her husband. Elon (Malachi Malik) confronted Joey (Jon Lindstrom). And we now know Smitty’s articles have caused another city’s plasma ring to implode. Things escalated, and Heather (Ashley Jones) walked around gathering intel and secretly acting menacingly while toying with people.
MISS: Is Bill superhuman? How is he still alive? Hayley (Marquita Goings) is doing her best to kill Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett), and apparently, he’s made of Teflon on the inside. He is drinking that toxin down. And he is eating it up. And he may stumble or fall off the couch. But the guy keeps getting back up. What is he made of? And while that should be considered a “hit,” we’re wondering how much longer it will be before someone becomes suspicious that Hayley is trying to become a black widow, because it needs to happen soon.
Worth a Mention: We’ve got a little bit of whiplash. One week, Chelsea (RhonniRose Mantilla) and Kat (Colby Nixon) were angsting about the anniversary of Allison’s kidnapping. And next, we’ve moved on to another drama. The sister-cousins are knee-deep in a sweatshop scandal involving their company. We hope the show’s peek at Allison (Brianna Roberts) in her cell means something down the line.

Bold and the Beautiful
HIT: Darcy Dylan’s arrival. The arrival of Dylan’s mother, Darcy, was beyond refreshing. Her presence gave her someone who unconditionally loved Dylan (Sydney Bullock). Darcy defended her, even though her daughter told her mother nothing of what had happened since she started living in Los Angeles. Kelly Sullivan won our hearts instantly as Darcy stood up to a suddenly snobby and unrelenting Katie, who felt her son, Will (Crew Morrow), needed to be protected from Dylan.
MISS: Daphne’s inability to see what’s right in front of her. Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Carter (Lawrence Saint-Victor) continued to rehash the night they spent together and how they would need to keep it a secret. Carter especially laid out the stakes they faced, should they come clean to their spouses. And then Daphne (Murielle Hilaire) attempted to open the doors to the CEO’s office. It was locked, and when they opened it up, Daphne bought the flimsy excuse her husband and best friend had given her. An excuse that didn’t warrant a discussion behind locked doors.
Worth a Mention: Will and Dylan’s Friday cliffhanger. The way Friday ended was a rewind-and-repeat moment. At Will’s place, Darcy told Dylan she didn’t fit in. And that they would go back to her place and figure things out. They didn’t deserve her. She said she respected Katie (Heather Tom) for her Mama Bear ways and led her daughter out of Will’s place. But then Will defied his mom, followed them out, and stopped a teary-eyed Dylan from going anywhere. And they hugged. It was sweet, and it helped solidify Dylan and Will as a couple to root for.

Days of our Lives
HIT: Fathers and daughters. Chad (Conner Floyd) delayed his trip to Italy to attend the father-daughter dance. And we’re so glad he did. What we got were adorable scenes featuring Chad-Charlotte (Pippa Blaylock), Xander (Paul Telfer)-Victoria (Angelica Nero), and Brady (Eric Martsolf)-Rachel (Lorelei Olivia Mote). The event featured a bit of drama with Brady knowing that Xander and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) had almost kissed recently. The fathers, daughters, and Sarah danced and had fun, which was refreshing. And this came after Victoria wowed everyone in Horton Town Square with her musical and singing talents. She was amazing, and it may have made us emotional.
MISS: The Joy fantasy sequence. We are happy that we know Joy’s motives for all the pot-stirring she is doing. But those sitcom scenes were no joke. They should be saved for true love triangles, where the audience is torn and, frankly, the characters are, too. But Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) is pretty clear on who he wants to be with. He loves his wife, not Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins). And he wants to be with Stephanie (Abigail Klein). He has to work out this custody situation, which is easier said than done.
Worth a Mention: Rita lies to EJ about his ring. As much as we adore the Rita (Maggie Carner)-EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) dynamic, he does take the woman for granted. She worked for Stefano (the late Joseph Mascolo) long before she became his trusted aide in kidnapping and so many other shenanigans. She didn’t tell him that his ring was on the table right in front of her. Rita pocketed it. It’ll be very interesting to see where this all leads.

General Hospital
HIT: Outback will save Port Charles. Outback’s return to the spotlight was very welcome. He’s not only one of the most adorable dogs ever. He might actually have an impact on a major storyline. All he needs to do is more digging. And more on top of that. We need Outback to uncover Jack (Chris McKenna), who’s buried in the Nature Preserve next to the Quartermaine estate. And while it might blow back on Nina (Cynthia Watros) at first. Hopefully, the long arm of the law will eventually work its way to Drew (Cameron Mathison).
MISS: Brennan’s death. Nope. We’re still in denial. Chris McKenna’s portrayal of Jack Brennan was wonderful. He shouldn’t have been a character we cared about, but we did. And we loved the start of Jack’s relationship with Nina. But then the writing was on the wall. He lost any and all allies, including Nina. Meanwhile, he ended up floating in a pool where Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) and Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) had left him. And then Ava (Maura West) and Drew dragged him out and buried him. For a second there, we thought he was going to receive the Jagger Cates (Adam Harrington) treatment. But Jack thankfully won’t be murdered and forgotten. Outback will do us all a favor and ensure this never happens.

Young and the Restless
HIT: Adam visits Nick in rehab. Adam and Nick’s brotherly bond continued to cement when Adam (Mark Grossman) visited Nick (Joshua Morrow) in rehab. Adam expressed the guilt and remorse he had been feeling over his brother’s current predicament. He was self-deprecating. And Nick absolved him of his guilt. The brothers joked a little. They also talked about the Newman family’s favorite subject: Matt Clark (Roger Howarth).
MISS: Phyllis’s visit with Nick. Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) visited Nick under the guise of checking in on him. But she really wanted to talk about Matt. Nick told her that Matt was a trigger for him. And what did she do? She continued to talk about Matt. And she tried to sell him on Matt being a good guy despite Matt’s role as a gateway to his drug addiction.
Worth a Mention: Mariah and Daniel’s Chancellor Park Cafe chat. We have a feeling we’ll be talking about Marie (Jade Harlow) somehow killing her husband next week. This week, Daniel’s (Michael Graziadei) and Mariah’s Thursday conversation made us wonder, once again, where Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) was. We’ve heard a lot about what’s been going on with Mariah (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa since Mariah’s release from the psychiatric facility, but we haven’t seen any of it. We haven’t even seen Tessa. Also, we don’t think that Mariah has even talked to Abby (Melissa Ordway) or Devon (Bryton James) since her release. Those are necessary conversations.
