Here’s Who Might Get Nominated from Days of our Lives for the 51st Daytime Emmys

Days of our Lives actors have been winning golden statuettes at the Daytime Emmys since the 1970s when Macdonald Carey (ex-Tom), Susan Flannery (ex-Laura), and Suzanne Rogers (Maggie) heard their names being read as winners. Who from DAYS will be up for gold once this year’s nominations are announced on Friday? Soap Hub is doing some speculating on this very topic!

And the Emmy Goes To

Soap Hub honored numerous performances from DAYS last year with our Performer of the Week feature. While nobody can predict with 100% accuracy who’ll get a nod for this year, we’re looking back at some of the finest work done in Salem last year, which may indicate who’ll be going home with gold this June when the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are broadcast on CBS.

Outstanding Lead Actress: Deidre Hall not only delivered as Salem’s moral compass AKA Dr. Marlena Evans, but she also tapped into her comedic side this past year as soap opera character Charlemagne.

Arianne Zucker, like Hall, a previous nominee in this category, gutted us when Nicole mourned the loss of her son — refusing to believe, initially at least, that he was truly gone. Mary Beth Evans, who won Outstanding Lead Actress for playing Kayla in 2016. also got to flex funny bones as Kassandra in the fictional Body and Soul.

Outstanding Supporting Actress: DAYS actresses are no strangers to this category. In fact, three previous winners — Rogers, Leann Hunley (Anna), and Tamara Braun (Ava) — each turned in entertaining performances in 2023. Previous nominee Martha Madison (ex-Belle) mourned the loss of her mother Marlena (needlessly so, it turned out).

Also, we saw Kristen, played by Stacy Haiduk, a previous nominee in this category, go to war with Brady. We can practically see flames shooting out of the daughter of the Phoenix. Tina Huang was tasked with making Melinda justified in taking a baby from his mother. All of these women are deserving of slots on this year’s ballot.

Outstanding Lead Actor: Paul Telfer (Xander) and Dan Feuerriegel (EJ) each got to play out scenes that tapped into their characters wanting — and deserving — to be fathers. Both have been nominated before and each deserve a nod this year. Speaking of protective dads, a past winner in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category, Eric Martsolf, showed how determined Brady could be when it came to protecting his daughter, Rachel (Finley Rose Slater). And do not overlook Drake Hogestyn, who did an amazing job when John Black discovered who his real dad was. The connection between Hogestyn and Dick Van Dyke was fire.

Outstanding Supporting Actor: The late, great Bill Hayes not only delivered as Doug Williams last year, but he once again embodied the character of the devil. Contrasting his scenes as evil incarnate with loving Doug make for a reel that’s both diverse and winning.

Outstanding Guest Performer: This category may very well have been created, in part, to honor big name stars from outside the world of soaps who come to visit. Who better to nominate this year than legendary Dick Van Dyke, who appeared on DAYS last year as Timothy Robicheaux, the long-lost father of Drake Hogestyn’s John Black? There were other great guests on DAYS in 2023 all of whom could make the ballot. Those performers include Miranda Wilson (Megan Hathaway), Kim Coles (Whitley King), and Kassie DePaiva (Eve Donovan).

Who do you think should be nominated for a Daytime Emmy from Days of our Lives? Sound off in the comments below. The 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are set to air on Friday, June 7 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on CBS.
