Electric confrontations, killer cliffhangers, and disappointing developments helped create a memorable week on soaps. Soap Hub breaks down the hits and misses from May 4-8 on Days of Our LivesGeneral HospitalThe Bold and the BeautifulThe Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.

Key Takeaways

  • Jack’s explosive reaction to Carly and Valentin’s affair delivered one of the week’s biggest GH moments.
  • DAYS scored with Lexie’s dramatic return, while BTG continued to spotlight Shanice standing up for herself.
  • Y&R’s Diane vs. Victor showdown and B&B’s messy Remy return sparked major hits-and-misses debate.

Hits and Misses Breakdown: May 4-8, 2026

Beyond the Gates

HIT: Shanice calls out Ted on the Leslie factor. Sometimes it seems like Shanice (Ernestine Johnson) is more into Ted (Keith D. Robinson) than he is into her. But it’s refreshing whenever she takes steps to protect her heart. Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) never refrains from being as rude as she wants to be to Shanice. Shanice knows she deserves better. So we applaud her continuing to call Ted out on rewarding bad behavior.
MISS: Give Dani and Andre something to do. The Friday fantasy scenes featuring Dani (Karla Mosley) and Andre (Sean Freeman) were fun and flirty. But what it really made us realize is that these two really don’t have a storyline. And we’re hoping that there’s something on the horizon that’s worthy of such a great couple. And it doesn’t have to be anything that causes friction. It can be the two of them against the world.
Honorable Mention (MISS): Somebody else underestimates Kat’s Nancy Drew skills. Bill (Timon Kyle Durrett) came down hard on Tomas (Alex Alegria) and Kat (Colby Nixon) about Kat questioning Lia (Cecelia Specht) over Lynette (Dominique Madison) conning her out of her money. When will everybody in the DMV learn that Kat’s suspicions and willingness to go to the mat to find out the truth are her superpowers and should be encouraged, not denied or shut down? Everybody always underestimates her Nancy Drew talents. They shouldn’t.

Bold and the Beautiful

HIT and MISS: Remy’s reentry. Remy (Christian Weissmann) is back, and apparently, he is Dylan’s cousin? Every time he returns, another out-of-the-blue connection is added to the character. The good thing about Remy’s comeback is that it gives Dylan (Sydney Bullock) someone else to talk to about her perspective. She doesn’t have Electra (Laneya Grace), she can’t talk to Will (Crew Morrow) because she loves him, and they don’t show her and Deke (Harrison Cone) enough. Although that could change.

Everything else about Remy’s return is shaky, like why does Remy think his cousin owes him? He didn’t make a great case. Remy didn’t even know that Dylan was homeless, so why should she help him with his redemption arc? Also, Remy has a way of saying he wants to be redeemed and then not doing any of the work or making any real changes in his life to justify it. Hopefully, this time around, he can show Deke he truly wants to become a better person.
Honorable Mention (MISS): Hope’s taking too long to make a decision about a Logan future. Hope (Annika Noelle) is trying too hard to hold onto a job she no longer seems to enjoy. Why stick around when Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) is so willing to set Hope for the Future aside? If it’s not Forrester’s priority, it may be time to move on. Just pull the trigger already, no more of this lingering. Unfortunately, Hope would rather manipulate the situation to try to get Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) to snatch the co-CEO title from Steffy. Isn’t it just easier to quit and go to Logan? There’s so much more drama in another defection.

Days of our Lives

HIT: The Friday Cliffhanger. Lexie (Nikki Crawford) emerged from the DiMera tunnel at the end of Friday’s episode to give DAYS fans a classic cliffhanger. She instantly interrupted Stefano’s dramatic will-reading, and no matter where this story goes from here, we appreciated the moment. It was soapy goodness.
MISS: Philip came up with magic offscreen. Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) crashed the will-reading and dropped a surprise announcement that she was Stefan’s widow, not ex-wife. While this moment provided some more soapy goodness on Friday, the way it came about wasn’t as well-executed. It was all offscreen. Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) said he had to take a trip and apparently hopped a plane to Alamainia, talked to Ivan (Ivan G’Vera), and discovered that the divorce papers were forged. And we saw none of it. Okay.
Honorable Mention (HIT): Harold was at the DiMera will-reading. It was so good to see Harold (Julian Barnes) at Stefano’s will-reading. How long has it been? Not only did he answer the door, but we also found out that Stefano (the late Joseph Mascolo) is taking care of those most loyal to him for the rest of their lives. And now Harold can retire to Toledo in style and comfort, because that’s where Stefano bought him a house. Loved this for Harold.

General Hospital

HIT: Jack finds out about Carly and Valentin. The Monday scenes featuring Jack (Chris McKenna) learning Carly (Laura Wright) had been cheating on him with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) were fire. Jack is someone who attempts to live as emotionless a life as possible. But it’s hard to remain that way when one falls in love. The capacity to be hurt is as real as the capacity to be loved. Jack was destroyed and humiliated, and exhibited all the feelings after learning Carly slept with the fugitive he had been trying to hunt down for months. His nemesis. All the actors nailed their performances.
MISS: The obsession over finding a driver who didn’t even cause the accident. We’re happy that Jordan (Tanisha Harper) has something to do. She’s struggling with the burns and the scars on her face. But it feels like the writers are doing major work to twist this story into something that could inevitably serve to cause drama for either Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) or Portia (Brook Kerr) and Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson).

The PCPD is searching for a driver who didn’t cause the accident. And at the time, probably didn’t know there had been an accident. It would have been different if the other driver had actually caused the accident and purposely kept on driving. But that’s not how it played out. And it just leaves us wishing Jordan’s story had been about her getting incriminating evidence on Sidwell (Carlo Rota), which was the original plan.
Honorable Mention (HIT): Dante and Liz figure out that Rocco shot Cullum. First, the scenes between Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Liz (Rebecca Herbst) are quickly becoming some of our favorites. Second, it was a pleasant surprise to see these two realize that Rocco (Finn Carr) was the one who shot Cullum (Andrew Hawkes). And now this story can continue to move forward. It was great that they were able to connect the dots, and now we’re anticipating what Dante will do with this information.

Young and the Restless

HIT: Diane and Victor. The Genoa City Athletic Club has been the place for some good old-fashioned drama lately. Cane (Billy Flynn) got arrested. And amnesiac Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) suddenly showed up at the bar. And Diane (Susan Walters) and Victor (Eric Braeden) went toe-to-toe. Diane may not be budging on how she feels Jack betrayed her, but to Victor’s face, she puts the blame for what happened to Jack (Peter Bergman) on him. And the way she said he was devoid of character, he didn’t have a heart, and called him out on his massive ego was so much fun to watch. And Victor remained his infuriatingly smug self. The only time she got a reaction out of him was when she mentioned Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott). More Susan Walters and Eric Braeden scenes, please.
MISS: Nikki suggests that Claire run Chancellor. Nikki and Claire (Hayley Erin) were catching up over coffee at the Chancellor Park Cafe when Nikki suggested that her granddaughter should run Chancellor because she knew she wouldn’t be running it anytime soon, thanks to her war with Victor. While stranger things have happened, we hope that’s not one of them. At least not yet anyway. Perhaps down the road. Let Claire continue to figure out who she is before she sits on top of one of Genoa City’s thrones.
Honorable Mention (HIT): Lily leans on Traci. This week, Lily (Christel Khalil) was distraught over Cane’s arrest, which jeopardized their plans to go to New York to help Malcolm (Shemar Moore). And for the second time in recent weeks, Lily turned to Traci (Beth Maitland) for support. Traci knows Lily’s past, and she’s always such a nonjudgmental voice in a sea of judgmental voices that Lily often has to deal with (including her own). So their conversations and Traci’s advice are always welcome.
