When it comes to General Hospital, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the GH week that was.
Hold the presses…are we getting two comeuppances for the price of one? Might we be getting rid of Peter (Wes Ramsey) AND Cyrus (Jeff Kober) in due course? So many questions.
The most pertinent of which is who the heck pushed Peter down that flight of stairs? It’s not as though the list is a short and concise one. Among the most obvious suspects are Anna (Finola Hughes), Valentin (James Patrick Stuart), Finn (Michael Easton), and one of the Webbers – be it Cameron (William Lipton) or Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst).
But you can also throw in Liesl (Kathleen Gati), Scotty (Kin Shriner), Brando (Johnny Wactor), Carly (Laura Wright), and even Sasha (Sofia Mattsson). Not to mention Michael (Chad Duell), and/or Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) should one of them uncover the fact that Peter is behind Chase’s (Josh Swickard) illness.
And we’re going to throw yet another name into the mix: Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman). The diminutive R.N. isn’t above inflicting a little pain and anguish on those who wrong her or her loved ones…or anybody else. Remember her leaving Damian Smith to break his back inside those darkened catacombs?
Having the mystery pusher – assuming Peter just didn’t accidentally plunge to his (fingers crossed!) doom – be Bobbie, would also explain why the heck she wasn’t with Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) at that hotel room in Beechers Corners.
* Cyrus may be down, but he’s not out…though his hair is out of the ponytail. It’s left him looking distinctly Faison-y…and, dare we say, a bit…more handsome? Is it just us at Soap Hub swooning?
* Since Ava (Maura West) was playing a decoy Gladys (Bonnie Burroughs), shouldn’t she have, at the very least, put on an appropriate wig?
* Jason’s (Steve Burton) admittance that he’s not exactly proud of his “killer instinct” was, quite probably, the greatest insight into this character that we have ever had. And how interesting that he shared this, not with Sam (Kelly Monaco), but with Britt (Kelly Thiebaud). THIS…this is a pairing that really works for us.
And while we’re on the subject of Jason, was anybody else disappointed that he had to be the one to ride to Carly’s rescue? Wouldn’t it have been far better to see her actually get herself out of the mess Nikolas (Marcus Coloma) landed her in? Why are the women having to be constantly saved and/or assisted by men? Isn’t this daytime, where women (at least used to) rule?
* One pairing that doesn’t work, on any level whatsoever, and never will – no matter how hard the matter is pushed – is Sam and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna). No sir, no ma’am, no thank you.
* What title should we give the Lifetime movie that poor Maxie (Kirsten Storms) narrowly survived? How about… When The Bough Breaks… or The Good Nanny … or maybe Deadly Delivery?
* Speaking of deadly deliveries…what’s the chance that GH psyched us out with “Dr. Austin” and that blow he took to the head via “Nurse Chloe” actually took him out? Hey, if Michael Easton can play John McBain, Silas Clay, Caleb Morley, AND Dr. Hamilton Finn, then Roger Howarth can most certainly be given a fourth character!
* Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen Nina (Cynthia Watros) evolve – or is it devolve – from passively keeping Sonny (Maurice Benard) from his family, to actively working to keep him out of sight of those who might recognize him and lead him home.
But, after that oh-so-awkward kiss, it seems that she’s FINALLY beginning to see the error in her ways. Might this long and drawn-out storyline finally be nearing its conclusion? General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
