James Patrick Stuart — A Biography
James Patrick Stuart grew up in Hollywood and show biz (as his father was a pop musician), and by the age of 12, he had a regular role on the sci-fi series Galactica 1980 as Dr. Zee. However, he did not have a large role again until he landed the role of Will Cortlandt on All My Children 10 years later.
He moved to NY for the role and the co-star who showed him around and took him under his wing was Genie Francis, who played Ceara Connor on the soap, and now who plays his rival, Laura, on General Hospital.
Stuart took Will from good guy to rapist and was eventually murdered for his crimes. Daytime didn’t hear much from James Patrick Stuart for a long time, but he did keep his career going on episodic TV. He appeared in several episodes of Seinfeld and played recurring characters on The Closer and 90210.
Stuart appeared on such shows as Ghost Whisperer, Babylon 5, CSI, Medium, Still Standing, Just Legal, Happy Hour, Back to You, Emily’s Reasons Why Not, CSI: Miami, Samantha Who?, True Jackson VP, Drop Dead Diva, Fraser, Bones, Castle, The Mentalist, 2 Broke Girls, How To Get Away With Murder, and Supernatural, the latter of which also provided him with a recurring role as Dick Roman. Most recently, the busy actor balances his time in Port Charles with the lead role as Vic Madden/Kraniac on The Villains of Valley View.
The talented actor’s film credits include Pretty Woman, Gettysburg, Exit to Eden, Death in Granada, Fix, Gods and Generals, The Man Who Came Back, Jack Rio, Good Behavior, Imagine That!, It’s Complicated, It Takes A Village, A Taste of Romance, Something Wicked, Hollywood Adventures, and The American Gandhi.
You might call James Patrick Stuart a jack-of-all-trades, as he also provides the go-to voice for a plethora of shows such as American Dad!, Wolverine, and the X-men, Phineas and Ferb, Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, Winx Club, Monsters vs Aliens, The Penguins of Madagascar, The Powerpuff Girls, Lego Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures, Lego Star Wars: All-Stars, Kingdom Hearts III, Spirits Riding Free: Pony Tales, Vlogs From the Bog, Amphibia, Blaze and the Monster Machines, and a multitude of video games.
In 2016, he returned to soaps and landed the role of Valentin Cassadine on General Hospital. Valentin was said to be the evilest Cassadine of them all, but since he caught on with fans, he’s been given compassion, a heart, and an explanation for his bad-boy ways.
Stuart is still recurring on General Hospital because he says he likes it that way as it gives him the freedom to take on other roles, and even take vacations. Staying recurring is quite a feat for actors in major storylines.
Stuart also takes after his father and has a lovely singing voice. The actor has recorded a couple of CDs. For more information or to purchase your own copy, check out his official website: jamespatrickstuart.com.
