Don Johnson was candid about ABC’s soap opera, Doctor Odyssey. He didn’t hold back as he shared his real thoughts about the cast and the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy.
Dishing The Truth
Johnson spoke to Remind Magazine about the medical drama, which is set to return in March. The midseason premiere features a two-part event titled “Shark Attack.” (You can Check out more about the episodes here.) In his interview, Johnson teased that the primetime soap will get “edgier and push the boundaries a bit.” It already did when it introduced a throuple. However, Johnson still sees it as a “dream.”
“It’s like you go into a dream, and a whole bunch of things happen, but not necessarily anything you’ve seen before,” he teased. Is the social media theory true that it’s all a dream? Johnson wouldn’t share more. But he did reveal what it’s like working with Joshua Jackson, Phillipa Soo, and Sean Teale. “It’s a blast. We all get along famously. It’s really kind of extraordinary. I love making the show, and I love making it with these people,” Johnson exclaimed.
He also shared his true thoughts about Ryan Murphy, the man behind the series. Johnson called him a “genius” in reading people’s energy and casting household names to guest star each week. The actor finds his role as Captain Robin Massey relatable. He joked that he was “the captain” of his life. “I am the ship, and I am the captain of it,” Johnson added.
Reminiscing About Miami Vice
Also, in the interview, Johnson reflected on his time on Miami Vice. Before he became the captain of his life, he rocked pastel suits and shoes with no socks. Johnson feels that Crockett’s signature look is still relevant to this day. “I don’t think I’ve seen a Halloween go by without a Crockett and Tubbs duo somewhere,” Johnson noted.
He didn’t get to keep those suits, though. Johnson didn’t want to since they got pretty sweaty while filming the action-packed scenes. The only thing he took from the set was the Ferrari he drove around. However, he’s not the type to dwell on the past. “I’m not a look-back kind of guy. When I make ’em, I just go forward,” Johnson added.
Doctor Odyssey’s two-part event returns on Thursday, March 6, at 9 p.m. EST. New episodes stream the following day on Hulu.
