DAYS The Rinse: Why Mason Shouldn’t Be Related to ANYONE

The Rinse: Our daily look at the biggest takeaway from the last episode of DAYS. Mason’s mysterious Salem connection could explain his grudge against Holly, but we’re hoping it doesn’t come with any family ties.

On the September 10 episode of Days of our Lives, newcomer Mason told Kate and Marlena that he’d just returned to Salem and enrolled at Salem U after serving in the military. When Ari confronted Mason about why he’s so snotty to Holly, Mason dropped that she was responsible for the death of someone he cared about. Why this makes us very, very nervous.

Key Takeaways

  • Mason’s grudge against Holly stems from the death of someone he cared about.
  • Mason has the potential to become a new young leading man in Salem.
  • Keeping Mason unrelated to Salem’s families would leave his romantic possibilities wide open.

Mason’s Grudge Against Holly Is Personal

Marlena (Deidre Hall) introduced Mason (Brandon Butler, who talks about joining DAYS) to Kate (Lauren Koslow) and Ari (Vico Escorcia) as a volunteer at the mental health clinic. Mason told them he’d finished a stint of military service and was now going to Salem U on the GI Bill. Kate thanks him for his service.

Ari wanted to know why he was so hostile to Holly (Ashley Puzemis). Mason said it was because Holly was responsible for the death of someone he knew. Since we doubt Holly was chasing Mason’s platoon through the deserts of the Middle East, it has to be somebody closer to home. Like in Salem.

Please, please, please don’t let Mason be related to anyone already on the canvas! Because if he’s not related to anyone, Mason can be a potential love interest for anybody from Ari to Javi (Jacob Martinez) to Stephanie (Abigail Klein) to the not-yet-in-town Sydney (Sydney Malekeh).

Heck, he can date Kate (Lauren Koslow)! Or Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes)! The point is, no blood relation in Salem is a highly coveted thing.

Mason’s Mystery Connection Could Explain Everything

So, who is this dead person Mason mourns? Our money is on Sophia (Rachel Boyd). Mason is older than the Salem early college teen scene. But he easily could have gone to church with Sophia’s family. They may have been friends. They may have even dated before he left for the military.

It makes sense that he’d blame Holly for her death. Which would give him a motive and potential story. But no family!
