A Critic’s Review Of Days of our Lives: Doppelgangers & Hero Du Jour

The author’s opinions on DAYS are his and his alone. They’re suitably scathing, fairly humorous, and normally bang on target.

When it comes to Days of our Lives, every fan has their own opinion – and Soap Hub is no different. For five days we sat and watched the good, the bad, and everything in between, and now we offer you a handy review, and a cheeky critique, of the Days of our Lives week that was.

Days of our Lives: The Critic’s POV

In a quite literal case of out with the old and in with the new, Emily O’Brien stepped out of frame as Gwen DiMera and reappeared seconds later as Theresa Donovan with the same British accent and a barely passable blonde wig — and truth be told, I didn’t mind it.

In fact, I thought the switcharoo was classic Days of our Lives. And besides, this is a show where Judi Evans, Deidre Hall, and Robert Scott Wilson have played unrelated doppelgangers, the latter two opposite themselves. Anything goes on this show, and for those complaining the loudest I say to you clearly you don’t know DAYS. If I can get over Chris Kositchek calling himself Roman Brady and the real Roman Brady showing back up claiming to be some dude named Alex North, you can live through a few weeks of O’Brien doing her best Jen Lilley.

Further DAYS Musings

* Despite (or, perhaps precisely because of) Ron Carlivati’s callous treatment of beloved Edmund P. Crumb (Adam Caine), I’m still not sold on Harris Michael (Steve Burton) as the hero du jour nor am I any more enamored of the Harris/Ava pairing then I have been previously.

The one intriguing thing to come about as a result of this farce is the identity of Susan’s (Stacy Haiduk) savior. Who could it be, who could it be?

* My disdain for Belle Brady (as well as my adoration for Martha Madison) is well documented in past columns so I won’t belabor my point and just say I’m calling bull on Belle’s condemnation of Shawn (Brandon Beemer). She’s just upset that the shoe is finally on the other foot.

* Though I’m not exactly thrilled at the prospect of saying goodbye to Louise Sorel (Vivian), at least she’s free and clear of the ridiculousness that passed for her latest storyline.
