Tracey E. Bregman — A Biography
Born Tracey Elizabeth Bregman in Munich, Germany. She was born into a showbiz family, her father being famed composer Buddy Bregman and her mother Suzanne Lloyd, a Canadian-born actress. The family lived in Europe for a decade before moving to California when Tracey was 10.
Bregman wasted no time pursuing an acting career, studying at the American National Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Lee Strasberg Institute. In 1978, she landed the role of Donna Temple Craig on Days of Our Lives. Her stint ended in 1980 but she made friends for life.
Tracey added roles to her repertoire over the next 4 years such as The Littlest Hobo, Happy Birthday to Me, The Love Boat, The Concrete Jungle, Fame, The Fall Guy, and The Funny Farm. In 1984, she auditioned for the role of Patty Williams on The Young and the Restless. She didn’t get the part.
William J. Bell was impressed by Bregman’s performance and teamed up with the other writers to create the character of Lauren Fenmore. Tracey loved the part. Her character was so much more multilayered than Donna was and far more appealing than the roles she had been playing.
In 1985, Bregman took home a Daytime Emmy for her role and hasn’t looked back. Lauren has evolved in many ways over the last three decades and Tracey has enjoyed the ride.
Other credits accrued Sex and Mrs. X, Spyder Games, Low Lifes, Misogynist, and a few Lauren crossovers to the sister soap The Bold and the Beautiful.
In addition to her acting career, Tracey is very involved in branding and other business ventures. Besides designing her own line of jewelry and clothing, she was a spokesperson for a vegan line of make-up brushes, Advanced Beauty Tools, and Jabot Cosmetics for Sony Pictures/CBS TV/Fusion Brands on HSN.
She is a singer, songwriter, and lyricist, writing lyrics for the shows The Funny Farm and The Concrete Jungle. Bregman co-wrote the Broadway Musical When I Dream: The Story of a Boy Who Lost His Once-Upon-A-Time with Toni Bull Bua and Gene Bua.
Bregman has been a vegetarian since she was a child and has a very active lifestyle. She practices yoga, pilates, works out, goes hiking regularly, and is a gifted horseback rider.
Bregman resides in Malibu, California with her sons Landon and Austin.
