The Y&R spoilers recap for Monday, October 17, 2022, brings Diane Jenkins denying the rumors that she and Tucker McCall crossed paths in Los Angeles, leaving Jack Abbott no choice but to believe her.
Jack (Peter Bergman) insisted on talking with Tucker (Trevor St. John), and after Jack’s first round of questions, Tucker tried to leave, but Jack was just getting started. Jack asked about Tucker’s relationship with Diane (Susan Walters) in Los Angeles, and he danced around the whole thing. Jack noticed that Tucker simply asked more questions, and he wanted a direct answer, which Tucker still neglected to give. Instead, he said Jack would believe what he wanted to believe.
Diane showed up, and Jack insisted she sit down and talk, so she did. He noted that they’d been talking about her, which she acted surprised about. Then, Jack told her the rumor about Diane and Tucker being together in L.A. She got all high and mighty about people trying to tear her down and how sick of it she was, but again, Jack realized she hadn’t answered his question. Ultimately, after he prodded her, Diane looked right in his face and lied that she hadn’t seen Tucker while she lived in L.A.

Jack quickly made his exit, and Tucker ribbed Diane about lying straight to Jack’s face. She firmly told him how much Jack and her life in Genoa City meant to her, and Tucker jokingly wondered why he didn’t mean much to her. Then, he told her that they could keep the lie together while simply insisting that they weren’t in L.A. together, but Diane pointed out that their whole connection was finished. Tucker pointed out that Diane hadn’t actually told him that Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) had returned, but she said it wasn’t her fault that Ashley beat her to the punch. Tucker insisted that Diane was still indebted to him, and their arrangement wouldn’t be over until he said it was.
Jack went home and talked with Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland). Traci admitted that she was worried about Ashley now that Tucker is back, and Jack agreed with her. Then, he told his sister all about the rumor that Diane and Tucker were involved in L.A., and Traci seemed incredulous. She wanted to know what would start such a rumor, and Jack repeated the details about the Bentley and somebody seeing Diane riding around in one with a mystery man in L.A.
Traci admitted that all that could be a coincidence, although it seemed unlikely. Then she advised her brother to take Diane at her word that she wasn’t involved with Tucker. After all, the truth always comes out anyway in the event that Diane wasn’t being truthful. Jack agreed with his sister, so for now, he planned to trust Diane until something proved he shouldn’t.
As for Tucker, he returned to his hotel room, and Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) was there. She advised him that Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) was the one who leaked information about Chancellor-Winters’s Initial Public Offering. He thought that explained why Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) had been so emotional when he’d visited. She said that Devon and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) would delay things, and he told Audra to keep him apprised and said they’d have to be patient.
Then they talked about who the mysterious Chief Executive Officer was, and Tucker thought it was Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle). Audra wasn’t so sure since Newman Enterprises had been spread so thin with acquisitions lately. He relayed the history of Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) leaving her company to Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). He figured Victoria would see it as putting things right, and then he wondered if she was as formidable an opponent as her father. Audra predicted Tucker would find out soon.
Nick (Joshua Morrow) showed up at Crimson Lights, and Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) instantly knew something was wrong with her ex-husband. He admitted he’d started seeing somebody and then dropped the bombshell that it was Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope). Sharon was surprised in some ways, but she also noted that Sally had mentioned Nick before.
Nick admitted that he’d also noticed Sally and that he liked her attitude and admired her talent. Sharon wondered, though, if Nick’s interest in Sally had less to do with the woman than it had to do with Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). She pointed out that Nick and Adam tended to go after the same women — her, Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan), and now Sally.
Nick denied that it had anything to do with Adam. In fact, he said he’d started seeing Sally despite her being Adam’s ex, even though both brothers obviously had good taste. He said it was complicated, though, because Adam had expressed his regret for breaking up with her, so Nick wanted to give her the space to figure things out. He said Sally wasn’t a damsel in distress that needed to be rescued, and Sharon pointed out that he was obviously more invested in the relationship than he thought.
Adam pleaded with Sally. He begged her to give him another chance because he loved her so much. However, Sally wondered how much of the whole thing had to do with Adam’s competition with his brother Nick. Sally felt that the whole thing was less about her and more about Adam always having to beat Nick.
Ultimately, Sally asked Adam to open the door, and after he made one last push to get her to stay, he did, and she left. Adam ended up grabbing the champagne and drinking it out of the bottle. He fell asleep, and had a nightmare that Sally returned to give him another chance, but Nick showed up and told Adam to stop destroying people’s lives.
Sally showed up at Newman Media to a worried Chloe Mitchell Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson). She relayed what had happened to Chloe, who noted that Nick had been by and wanted to give her space. Sally left and texted Nick to find out where he was, and he texted her back that he was at Crimson Lights.
Sally showed up at the coffee shop, and they talked about Adam’s ploy to get her to the romantic dinner on the roof. Nick admitted that Adam had told him that he loved Sally the last time they spoke. Sally said he’d also told her that, and Nick wanted to know how she felt. Sally said Adam’s professing his love left her feeling confused, which she felt strange admitting to Nick. She said she couldn’t trust Adam, given how manipulative he’d been.
Nick agreed that the whole thing had gotten messy, which wasn’t what either of them wanted. Sally thought so too, and he suggested that they pull the plug. Sally agreed, and they hugged. Just then, Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) walked in and looked less than thrilled.
Now that you’ve read the Y&R spoilers recap, here’s a peek at what’s coming up next. You can expect Summer to give Sally a big warning after she saw her dad and Sally hugging. There will probably be some fireworks. Be sure to check out the daily breakdown below.
