The Y&R spoilers recap for Friday, August 5, 2022, brings suspicions from all over Genoa City. Elena Dawson suspects Imani Benedict may be sabotaging Devon Hamilton and Nate Hastings’s relationship. People learn the truth about the night Ashland Locke died. Also, Amanda Sinclair learns her mother took a turn for the worse.
Nate (Sean Dominic) and Devon (Bryton James) worked to ease Amanda’s (Mishael Morgan) worries after she learned her mother slipped into a coma overnight. They both assured her they could keep things going at work so that she could join Imani (Leigh-Ann Rose). Later, at Crimson Lights, Devon offered to go with Amanda, but she assured him she’d be fine to go be with her sister and mom on her own.

Meanwhile, back at Chancellor Winters, Elena (Brytni Sarpy) showed up, and she asked Nate about the status of her contract with Newman Enterprises. He let her know that both Imani and Amanda were dealing with their mother’s situation, and they discussed the poor prognosis for Naya Benedict (Ptosha Storey).
Something Nate said about missing Imani as an ally in his arguments with Devon really set off Elena. She felt that Imani was stoking the tension between the cousins instead of easing it. Nate didn’t quite agree, which of course, didn’t sit right.
Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) told Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) all about Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) interference with Ashland’s (Roberg Newman) death. Sharon did her best to keep Nick calm and tried to help him remember he wasn’t to blame for Ashland dying.
Later, Nick showed up at Newman Enterprises and let Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) in on the whole sordid tale. She seemed relieved at first, but then she saw it from Nick’s perspective and went to go talk to Victor. Of course, when she opened the door to go find their father, Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) stood right there.
Before Nick arrived, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) showed up, having returned early from Los Angeles. He was relieved to find out that Victoria and their kids were doing fine. She let him know exactly what happened the night Ashland died, so he realized that Nick is the one who ensured Ashland didn’t hurt Victoria, which Billy appreciated.
Later, Billy left, and he went to Society, where he saw Abby Chancellor (Melissa Ordway). He couldn’t resist asking her why Chance was investigating Ashland’s death — after all, nobody was sorry to see that evil man die. Abby sidestepped the issue and moved on. Then, Billy and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) sat down for a breakfast meeting, and Abby looked intrigued by their partnership.
In Chancellor Park, Chance and Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) talked. Kevin let Chance know that he located the security footage from the gas station near Victoria’s house, and it was blank during the timeframe Ashland’s car would’ve left, which was, of course, suspicious.
Then, there was other grainy footage from other areas around town, which seemed to show additional people in Ashland’s vehicle that night. But, it wasn’t good enough details to conclude anything. They kicked around some possibilities, but nothing came clear.
