The Young and the Restless recap for Wednesday, November 8, 2023, had Nina rushed to be by Chance’s side after he was shot in the line of duty.
Also in this episode, Danny encouraged Phyllis to stop worrying about Christine. Nate blamed Victoria for not taking his side against Victor. Victor asked Nick to return to Newman Enterprises. Chloe shocked both Summer and Chelsea by quitting Marchetti, and Sharon told them that Chance had been shot. Now let’s dig deeper into what went down.
Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) ran into Danny (Michael Damian) at the jazz club. She was enthusiastic, but he seemed less inclined to chat. Phyllis blamed it on “The Bug” turning her back into a pariah. Danny denied it, and he told Phyllis to stop projecting her problems with Christine onto him. He also got Phyllis to agree to back off and call her Christine.
Phyllis flirted some more, and she asked Danny to dinner. However, he had plans — not with Christine. Danny mentioned that he was having dinner with Heather and Lucy, and Phyllis was thrilled to hear they’d returned. He warned Phyllis against trying to push Heather and Daniel together, and she promised she wouldn’t.

At Society, Christine (Lauralee Bell) and Nina (Tricia Cast) enjoyed some more time together. Christine complained that Phyllis was likely talking her down to Danny, but Nina enjoyed imagining Phyllis’s face seeing Christine arrive at the jazz club. Christine relayed how she’d opened up to Danny about her problems, but she warned Nina that they were only reconnecting as friends.
They talked about Christine’s professional life, and she admitted that she didn’t want to be the District Attorney anymore. Nina got a phone call, and it was the hospital. Nina revealed that Chance was shot and then she left.
Christine rushed with Nina to the hospital, and Nina tearfully went in to see her son. “Chance, sweetheart, it’s me,” she cried as he lay there with his life hanging in the balance.
Nate (Sean Dominic) couldn’t believe Victor (Eric Braeden) fired him, and he argued his case that he wasn’t trying to put Victor away. Victoria (Amelia Heinle) urged her father to calm down, but Victor said he’d calm down when he was ready.
Victor angrily told everybody that the whole thing was a setup. This didn’t please Adam (Mark Grossman) or Nick (Joshua Morrow). Victoria couldn’t believe her dad didn’t even trust her, and she expressed how hurt she was over Victor’s actions.
Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) apologized, but Victoria couldn’t believe her mom had kept up the ruse. Victor pointed out Victoria would’ve told Nate. Again, Nate argued his position, but Nikki told him to stop. After more arguing, Nate angrily left, and Victoria followed him.
In the hallway, Nate complained that Victoria didn’t have his back. She tried to smooth it over, but Nate wouldn’t let her, especially since she’d sided with Adam. Nate pointed out that Adam’s plan was a perfect setup for him to manipulate Victor. He left after saying he’d made a mistake thinking Victoria would have his back instead of showing blind obedience to her family.
Back in the office, Nick said Victor didn’t need to use his plan, and Adam complained they all figured he’d be the traitor. Both Nikki and Nick accused Adam of wanting to use the whole thing to his advantage, but Victor defended his younger son.
Victoria returned and berated Victor for firing Nate. Nikki, Victor, and Nick said Nate merely wanted to get Victoria back in power, and Victoria still thought her father had been needlessly cruel. She accused Victor of having worthless instincts when it came to believing Adam. Victoria left, saying she didn’t think she could forgive Victor.
Victor urged Nick to return to the company, but he didn’t give an answer. He warned his father that Victoria may not forgive him. Meanwhile, Victoria texted Nate, but he ignored it. Instead, Nate, who was at the bar at Society, downed his drink and returned Devon’s text, wanting to meet.
Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) joined Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) at Crimson Lights. Chelsea saw it as a great sign Summer asked to meet them, but Chloe wasn’t as pleased. Summer (Allison Lanier) arrived and welcomed Chelsea back. The Marchetti CEO hoped to clear the air, and Chelsea worked hard to do so, but Chloe didn’t think it was possible.
Summer stepped out to take a call, and Chelsea couldn’t believe Chloe was leaving her. However, Chloe let Chelsea know that she could handle working at Marchetti and with Summer without her. Summer returned, and Chloe let her know she wouldn’t change her mind about leaving.
As Summer, Chloe, and Chelsea prepared to leave, Sharon (Sharon Case) called Esther to come to work ASAP, and she let the women know Chance had been shot.
