The Y&R recap for Tuesday, December 27, 2022, brings a moment of truth for Daniel Romalotti as he finally opens up to his parents, three big job offers, a parenting trio struggling, and so much more.
The Great Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) tried and failed to work his fatherly magic on Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) kept Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) close. Meanwhile, Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) bared his soul and asked for support from a shocked Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) and Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian). A social media post brought up some tough feelings for Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell). All the while, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) tried to balance his work life and home life, but neither was very successful today. Now let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.
Victor was pleased when Adam followed directions and showed up at Society. He thanked his son for bringing Connor Newman (Judah MacKay) over for Christmas, and Adam thanked The Mustache for behaving himself. Then, Adam got down to the nitty gritty – he didn’t think it was a good idea for Chelsea to be around the boy. Adam balked. What’s best for Chelsea and Connor is to be together.
Victor conceded but said he wanted to see Connor and Adam more. He asked Adam to come back to the family company. Adam scoffed. It was a little too late to buy his love. Victor tried to sweeten the pot by making sure Adam knew he was nothing on his own.

Meanwhile, Chelsea was at the apartment moping about and begging Billy for a visit. They met up at Crimson Lights where Chelsea told him about her time at the ranch. It was all good during the day, she said. However, Chelsea admitted she spiraled at night. Billy offered words of encouragement. They then went shopping and went back to her place to build an egg drop machine — for Connor. Yes, for Connor. Why not do his project for him without him there?
Over at the Glam Club, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) had some fun With Danny and Daniel as they took selfies and she shared a post with a touching (braggy) caption. Phyllis also asked the tough question – did Daniel call Lucy and Heather on Christmas? No, he said. He never got the chance. Phyllis and Danny pushed and Daniel admitted he and Heather hit a rough patch when his painting career stalled and Heather’s own career flourished. He became bitter, resentful, and angry and made their lives miserable which drove her and his daughter to flee to Europe. Heather took a job there and Lucy is in boarding school.
Daniel said after they left, he drank too much, partied too much, and eventually bottomed out. He also told the story of finding Lucy’s video games and trying to finish a quest to find hope which led him to his new life’s mission – create a new game. Danny asked if his son is using his game to get his family back. Daniel said it was a new beginning. He lost his family but is finding himself.
With Daniel’s messy life squared away, they moved on to Phyllis’s. She made the whole conversation about herself and her vendetta against Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters). She whined about losing her job and being made out to be a bad guy when all she was doing was trying to protect her family. The men surmised Phyllis deserves better and Daniel offered her a job — again.
Across town, Christine saw Phyllis’s post with Genoa City’s very own rockstar and was shocked to see Danny was back. She flashed back to when she was Mrs. Romalotti. Their good times, their bad times, and the time Danny’s affair destroyed their lives.
Devon welcomed Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) into the apartment and told her all about his Christmas morning. He admitted he even had a good enough time with Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic). At the very least, it was nice to not fight with him. He didn’t see it happening again soon, though.
Lily updated Devon on office matters. Jill Foster Abbott (Jess Walton) was ready to move forward with the IPO. Devon was not happy. He didn’t want to give up control and said he even talked to Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John) who advised against it. Lily didn’t like that at all. Since when did Devon’s biological father make their business decisions?
Lily left and went to the Glam Club to say hi to the trio – especially her ex-husband Daniel. She was pleased to hear things were moving forward with the game. She was not so pleased to learn Phyllis was joining the team, but she didn’t have much choice in the matter.
At the same time, Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) ran into Chance Chancellor (Connor Floyd) at the park and let him know she got the divorce papers. They chatted about her visits to her families on Christmas and Chance noted she didn’t admit to also seeing Devon. Chance asked to see Dominic so Abby arranged for Devon to leave his place so they could see the baby. However, as Chance was leaving with the stroller, Devon came in from the elevator. No words were exchanged as Chance made a quick exit. Once the doors were closed Devon took Abby in his arms.
