The Young and the Restless recap for Monday, March 20, 2023, brings Amanda Sinclair back to Genoa City, and she’s ready to go to battle with Devon.
Plus, Abby (Melissa Ordway) gives Devon a huge pep talk, and Daniel does the same for Lily. Elsewhere, Diane realizes Phyllis lied about Jeremy while Jack gives Traci his and Diane’s good news. Also, Nikki and Traci plan the gala. Now, let’s dig deeper into what went down.
At Crimson Lights, Daniel (Michael Graziadei) saw Lily (Christel Khalil). She hadn’t slept ahead of her arbitration with Devon (Bryton James). However, Daniel wanted Lily to sit and talk for a bit, but she said she was busy. She eventually agreed, and Daniel gave her a big pep talk. Ultimately, he encouraged Lily to stop beating herself up.
Lily admitted that she also wanted to protect Neil’s legacy, and Daniel agreed with her. He advised Lily to think about what she wanted and not what Devon wanted. Lily thanked her ex and hugged him before leaving.

At the penthouse, Abby gave Devon a pep talk ahead of the arbitration. She brought up the elephant in the room — Amanda (Mishael Morgan). Devon wasn’t pleased that Lily had brought his ex back to town.
Abby wanted to go, but Devon didn’t want to subject Abby to sitting across from Amanda. Instead, Devon asked Abby to stay home with Dominic so he’d have a great homecoming after the meeting. Abby reminded him that the whole thing was about the law and not personal feelings.
Abby did some role-playing about potential things Amanda might say to Devon, and he remained calm, which Abby found surprising. However, Devon pointed out that his life was her and Dominic. He left, telling Abby not to be worried, and he promised to kiss her when he returned home. After Devon left, Abby remembered a conversation she’d had with him years ago about love.
At the arbitration, Lily told Devon it was their last chance to stop things. However, Amanda walked in and advised Lily not to say another word.
Jack (Peter Bergman) gave Traci (Beth Maitland) his and Diane’s (Susan Walters) exciting engagement news. Traci expressed her happiness for Jack, and even though she noted it was quick, she was glad he’d found love again. Jack appreciated her support, and he lamented not everybody would be as supportive.
At The Grand Phoenix, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) texted Jeremy (James Hyde) that she was going up to his room, but he saw her in the lobby and yelled her name. She didn’t like that he’d called her name out in public. Diane walked in, and she saw Jeremy. She accused Phyllis of lying about not getting involved in Jeremy’s revenge plans.
Phyllis denied lying, and she told Diane she was shocked to see Jeremy at the hotel. However, Jeremy said Phyllis was telling the truth. He’d forgotten his lucky socks. Jeremy wondered why Diane was in town, though, and Diane said she and Jack planned to ignore him. Diane declared that Jeremy no longer had power over her anymore, but Phyllis didn’t buy it.
Diane and Phyllis argued back and forth, and Diane called out Phyllis for using her own daughter as a pawn in the scheme. Diane threw her relationship with Jack in Phyllis’s face, and she insinuated that she had news that they’d hear soon. Plus, Diane didn’t have the time or energy for either Phyllis or Jeremy’s nonsense.
Diane went back home, and she alerted Jack that she’d run into Phyllis and Jeremy at The Grand Phoenix. Jack ranted and raved about Phyllis, and he wondered what they were planning. He declared he was deeply disappointed in Phyllis because she was past the point of no return.
Diane pointed out that she and Phyllis fought over Jack years ago, and now that she’d lost, it made her furious. Jack expressed his hope that the threat of losing her children would’ve been enough to pull her back from the brink, but it didn’t work. He promised Diane that they would handle whatever came their way together.
Back at the hotel, Phyllis ranted about whatever news Diane was hiding, but Jeremy said it wasn’t a concern because their future together wouldn’t happen if their plan worked. He wanted to ensure that Phyllis was still 100% on board with it. She didn’t need to be micromanaged, though, and Jeremy appreciated Phyllis’s confidence.
Jeremy said he could see him and Phyllis together lighting the world on fire, but she admonished him to stay focused. She’d waited too long to get revenge on Diane to get distracted by Jeremy.
Traci met Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) at Society. She was thrilled about the upcoming bicentennial gala, and Traci noted how hard they’d been working to bring the whole thing together. Nikki reported that everything was set for the evening’s celebration. They were so excited, and Nikki regretted that she and Traci didn’t get to spend much time together during the planning stage.
Traci pointed out how great it was to have such a wonderful occasion in light of recent events, but Nikki didn’t know what she meant. However, she didn’t have any specifics — just lots of circumstances that affect people. Nikki called her out on lying, though, and she wanted to know what news Traci was talking about. Nikki wondered if Traci was upset about Jeremy, and she revealed that luring him to Genoa City was Phyllis’s idea.
Later after Traci left, Jeremy walked up to Nikki’s table. She said she didn’t want him in Genoa City, but Jeremy found her the most intriguing because she’d come from the other side of the tracks.
“Let me get something straight with you, Mr. Stark,” Nikki said. “Don’t make assumptions about me, and we have just barely tolerated your presence here. You have a lot of gall coming here.”
She pointed out that he’d broken into her apartment, but Jeremy insisted he was set up. Even so, Nikki advised him to leave town, but Jeremy said Nikki had turned on him quickly, which he found surprising. She told Jeremy that he was overestimating her interest in Diane Jenkins. Jeremy asked for an invite to the gala, but Nikki said his name wouldn’t be on the guest list. Even so, Jeremy promised to help make the gala a success.
Phyllis stopped by the Abbotts, and Traci answered the door as she headed out. She let Phyllis in since she said she was meeting Summer. Phyllis spied Diane’s purse. She looked inside and found the engagement ring just as Diane walked in asking, “What the hell are you doing?” Phyllis said that Summer had asked her to come by, but Diane didn’t believe it. Then Phyllis claimed she just got a text that Summer couldn’t meet after all and left.
