The Young and the Restless viewers know that Nikki Newman is powerful in her own right even though she’s Victor Newman’s right hand. She loves her family, and, currently, she’s focused on ensuring her daughter doesn’t make another major mistake in love and in business. For her performance, Soap Hub Performer of the Week for Y&R is presented to Nikki’s portrayer, Melody Thomas Scott.
Nikki serves as Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) co-CEO at Newman Enterprises. She’s working hard to ensure her daughter is successful in the role. She also works to further Victor’s vision for the company he created.
This week, with Victoria gone, Nikki took the opportunity to really talk with Nate (Sean Dominic). She firmly put him on notice about how she tended to take her son Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) distrust of Nate to heart. She demanded details from Nate, and she didn’t allow him to snow her with his disingenuous flattery. Thomas Scott gave Nikki a no-nonsense attitude, and she obviously channeled her inner Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). Nikki obviously picked up many tools of the trade after so many years.
We loved seeing Nikki continue taking Nate to task over lunch at the GCAC. She didn’t let him dance around her questions, insisting that he firmly answer them. We so loved watching her reactions, and it was obvious where Nikki was and wasn’t buying Nate’s story. She’s certainly still wary of him, and Nikki wasn’t shy about letting him know.
In the end, we loved seeing her overhear Nate and Elena’s (Brytni Sarpy) unfriendly discussion, and when she put him on notice about trashing Victoria’s life romantically, we certainly believed her. Bravo, Melody Thomas Scott, on another excellent performance this week. We absolutely can’t wait to see what happens next!
