Soap Opera News: Another Soap Returning

The Young and the Restless is following in The Bold and the Beautiful’s footsteps and making plans to get back into production. Here are the details.

When YR is up and running again, Brytni Sarpy (Elena) has a wish: she’d love to tackle a Black Lives Matter storyline. Meanwhile, co-star Jason Thompson (Billy) is eager to get back to work, and he revealed what he misses most about YR.

Over at BB, Darin Brooks (Wyatt) was one of the first actors back on the job. And he was absolutely thrilled about it.

No sooner did Kate Mansi exit as Days of Our Lives’ Abigail than the show pulled a recast with a familiar face. Word is Marci Miller is returning to the role.

First comes the thank you speech, then comes the award? Since the 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be a virtual event due to the coronavirus, Outstanding Supporting Actress nominee Susan Seaforth Hayes (Julie) revealed that actors have already recorded their acceptance speeches.

YR’s Jess Walton (Jill) and Peter Bergman (Jack) revealed the co-star they’re hoping will bring home the gold at this year’s Daytime Emmys, while Eileen Davidson (Ashley) weighed in on her two victories as Outstanding Lead Actress

And Other Awards

General Hospital, Days and BB scored big at this year’s 11th Annual Indie Series Awards. Sean Kanan (ex-Deacon) hosted the big event.

Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH), a long-time advocate for challenges of mental health, received a very special honor. The actor was named the 2020 recipient of Mental Health America’s Clifford W. Beers Award.

While chatting with People TV, BB’s Denise Richards revealed a secret about her daytime character. Apparently, Shauna is married.

James Reynolds (Abe, DAYS) spoke out about the importance of Juneteenth and why everyone should celebrate it. Meanwhile, Mishael Morgan (Amanda, YR) and some of her daytime friends created a special video in honor of the special day.

GH’s Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) have gone the talk show hosting route. Their weekly series has been picked up by the streaming platform Popstar! TV.

Vinessa Antoine, GH’s original Jordan Ashford, left the soap to star in Canadian drama, Diggstown. Now she’s branched out with another project: creating her own skin care line.
