Two of The Young and the Restless’ biggest stars — Peter Bergman and Jess Walton — know the thrill of winning Daytime Emmy gold! Bergman’s won three statuettes and Walton has won two. Now, they’re hoping one of their YR co-stars experiences the thrill of winning a Daytime Emmy.

Both Bergman and Walton have expressed their joy over co-star Jason Thompson (Billy) being nominated in the category of Outstanding Lead Actor, the category that Bergman has won for playing Jack. The celebrated star took home the gold in 1991, 1992, and 2002. Walton won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 1991. She won the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series in 1997.

Bergman’s earned 22 Daytime Emmy nominations. His first was in 1983 for his role as Dr. Cliff Warner on All My Children. Walton has received six Daytime Emmy nominations — all for playing Jill.

This is Thompson’s sixth Daytime Emmy nomination. Nominated for Billy this year, his five other nods are for his portrayal of Dr. Patrick Drake on General Hospital. “Rooting for YR Friday night,” Walton posted on Instagram, “especially my boy Billy!”

Bergman told TV Insider that he’d be watching the show, too. “I’ll be cheering everyone on,” the actor says. “Jason has done a terrific job and I’d love to see him rewarded.”

The actor submitted scenes related to Billy having a delayed reaction to the death of his daughter Delia. Billy’s descent was triggered by the return of Adam (Mark Grossman, who is nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor category).

This year’s Daytime Emmys are back on broadcast television, however, the event will be a virtual one due to the coronavirus and social-distancing concerns. Many times winners get to the podium and say they didn’t prepare anything. That won’t be the case this year after names are read as winners — nominees were invited to pre-record acceptance speeches. Don’t forget to tune into the Daytime Emmys to find out who wins!

The 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards air tonight, June 26 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. The Young and the Restless airs weekdays on CBS. Check local listings for air times.
