Melissa Ordway Joins Soap Hub for a Fireside Chat
Ordway joined Y&R in 2013 as Abby Newman Abbott. Previously, she’d appeared on the drama Hollywood Heights and the film Ted. Off-screen, the actress is wed to Justin Gaston (ex-Ben Weston, Days of our Lives). The couple has two children, Olivia Christine, born in 2016, and Sophie Jolie, born in 2017. Gaston briefly stepped to play Chance on Y&R when Abby and Chance tied the knot at the Chancellor’s mansion.
Ordway’s character is the daughter of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson). Although Victor and Abby had been married at one point, they were not together when Abby was conceived. Ashley withheld from Victor, in fact, that he was Abby’s father. As a young child, Abby discovered the truth and was the one herself who broke the news to the mustached mogul.
During her decade in Genoa City, Abby has been paired with Tyler Michelson (Redaric Williams), Dr. Ben ‘Stitch’ Rayburn (Sean Carrigan), Phillip ‘Chance’ Chancellor IV (Conner Floyd), and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James). She is the mother of Dominic ”Dom” Phillip Newman-Abbott-Winters-Chancellor. In recent months, Abby’s marriage to Chance hit an impasse and she’s become romantically involved with Devon.
