Earlier this month, veteran soap star Jacob Young sat down with Soap Hub editors and Soap Hub Insiders for a Fireside chat. The Daytime Emmy-winner shared never-heard-before stories about his years on daytime and his current projects.
Jacob Young – Prepare For Launch
Young is known for playing fictional characters on daytime, but he’s headed to the big screen to bring to life the story of real-life spaceman Lt. John S Bull.
The actor, fascinated with the space race, resembles the actual astronaut and has embraced the role — and also serves as a producer on the project. The former JR Chandler is reuniting with former All My Children leading lady Amanda Baker (ex-Babe) in the film. She’s been cast as Bull’s wife Nancy.

Young also reflected with Soap Hub Insiders during the Fireside how he started out on soaps as Rick on The Bold and the Beautiful — the offspring of Eric (John McCook) and Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang), recalling his first day on set and what it was like the first time he saw himself in a magazine.

He shared what it was like joining the cast of General Hospital as Lucky Spencer, the role he won the Daytime Emmy for, opposite legendary performers Anthony Geary (ex-Luke) and Genie Francis (Laura).
Young recollects an instance in which Geary made a comment that helped him get through the day and adjusted to his new series.
The actor continued his pattern for playing the son of well-known soap folks when he moved 3,000 miles across the country to join the cast of New York-based AMC as JR, the son of Adam Chandler (David Canary) and Dixie (Cady McClain). While he was in the Big Apple, Young moonlighted on Broadway, bringing to life (and light!) the character of Lumière in Beauty and the Beast.
