After all, Ava could talk about nothing else except how her daughter had wronged her, so a twisted Ryan would want to present Ava with a gift, right?
By this point, we were also no longer rooting for Kiki. The “Griki” pairing never really appealed to Soap Hub (although we know many fans were into it) and we found them to be incessantly annoying rubbing Ava’s face in their new romance.
So, that offered us a double-edged sword. We still saw the potential in Kiki if she learned to just accept her mother will do awful things, but let’s not do awful things back and just be happy the woman gave you everything you needed to grow up privileged.
There have been worse parents on soaps than Ava Jerome (um, Sonny, you shot your wife as she gave birth to your son and also killed your adopted son’s bio dad) and we still saw potential for Kiki and Ava to fix their relationship.
Of course, there’s also SO much potential for drama in this story — as well as Emmys for Maura West and Jon Lindstrom.
Ryan needed to kill a major character, Hayley Erin was leaving, we get it. But, we don’t have to like it. Kiki may have grated on our nerves by the end (we blame Griffin), but now, there’s no chance to fix her.
