In her new TV series Broke, Pauley Perrette plays a woman who wants to try to have better relations with her family members. Now, the former NCIS star is asking for civility in real-life, too.
“Possible to request that y’all stop being jerks on Twitter?” Perrette recently posted on her own account on the social media giant. “Even in politics? Say who you like and stop being hateful to others? (Yeah I’m naive folk who still remembers when I thought everyone was awesome, I was wrong) Y’all break my heart. You’re mean. Check yourself #FoShame.”
The actress has certainly faced her fair share of Twitter trolls with previous postings so it’s not like she’s new to the way social media works — but it has worn her down and she wants to see people on opposite sides at least trying to get along. She proved that in a previous post.
“So @RepAdamSchiff is my beloved friend, like family,” the actress posted. “We fought for stalking victims’ rights. He saved my life. When my VERY republican dad needed support for a poor Alabama county, Adam met with him. He’s truly a pure and great man. #Proud #AdamSchiffHasMyRespect #AdamShiffROCKS”
Perrette studied, ironically, criminal justice at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia. She continued her studies in New York City at the John Jay College of Criminal Justice. After moving to Los Angeles, she landed roles in TV shows such as Frasier and 24. She appeared in the films The Ring and Almost Famous.
She’s most known for her role as Abigail “Abby” Sciuto on the longtime CBS hit NCIS. The actress departed the series in 2018. Perrette’s coming back to the eye network with Broke, which also stars Jaime Camil (Jane the Virgin).
In the series, Perrette plays Jackie, a single mother, who is stunned when her sister, Elizabeth, with whom she’s estranged, shows up on her doorstep with her husband Javier (Camil).
The pair are broke — hence the show’s title — and they need to move in with Elizabeth because they have nowhere else to go! Broke debuts on Thursday, April 2 at 9:30 p.m. ET on CBS.
