Fans loved her for her portrayal of quirky Abby Sciuto, the intelligent, yet funky forensic scientist on CBS’s longtime hit show NCIS. Now, actress Pauley Perrette is coming back to the eye network. After years of crime and drama, she’s getting some laughs on the sitcom Broke.
Pauley Perrette Returns
In this new show, she stars as Jackie, a single mom living in the suburbs, whose life takes a twist when her snooty sister Elizabeth (Natasha Leggero), whom she’s estranged from, shows up on her doorstep.
Elizabeth brings her husband Javier (played by Jane the Virgin’s Jamiel Camil) along with her as well as Javier’s loyal valet Luis (Izzy Dias, Telenovela). The trio’s visit may be longer than first thought, much to Jackie’s dismay after it’s revealed that Elizabeth and Javier are broke, hence the show’s title.
Sammy (Antonio Raul Corbo, Frozen II), Jackie’s precocious son, helps round out the cast. Watch for the living situation to test familial bonds as hilarity ensues! You can get a preview in the sizzle reel below, as Javier tries to “help” by going to meet Sammy’s teacher. Also, Jackie and Elizabeth have a sit-down in an unlikely place — her bathtub — to hash out what led to their falling out.
Her Past As Abby
After 15 seasons of playing everyone’s favorite Goth, Paulette announced on October 4, 2017, that she’d be exiting the series at the conclusion of the season. She last aired as Abby on May 8, 2018.
Abby was written off the show when the character opted to leave Gibbs and the gang at NCIS to start a foundation to aid the homeless. This was to honor her friend, the late MI-6 Agent Clayton Reeves (Duane Henry), who died protecting her.
The original trailer for the series was released in May 2019, which you can see below. Perrette revealed on Twitter that Broke finally got its premiere date — Thursday, April 2 at 9:30 p.m. ET.
