Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR), this week, or in the not-too-far-off future?
Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.
The week of February 20, 2023
Y&R will be celebrating its golden anniversary by bringing back some fan favorites from the past. Slated to be on hand for the show’s 50th in March are Tricia Cast, remembered as Nina Webster; Barbara Crampton, who played gossip columnist Leanna Love; Michael Damian, whose Danny Romalotti returned for a Christmas visit last year; Veronica Redd, beloved as the Abbott housekeeper, Mamie Johnson; and Patty Weaver, who played Danny’s sister, Gina Roma.
Cast made her last appearance in 2021, while Crampton hasn’t stepped foot in Genoa City since 2007. Damian, of course, was just back in December 2022. Weaver last aired in 2013, and Redd in 2004.
Y&R made its debut in 1973 and introduced more sexual undertones and younger characters to daytime soap operas. It has outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Needless to say, four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in.
From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Traci Abbott’s (Beth Maitland) heart to the complicated love story of Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), Y&R knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more.
