The Young and the Restless Star Melody Thomas Scott Alerts Fans to a Scam

Melody Thomas Scott has never played a dual role on The Young and the Restless but there is someone trying to impersonate her in real life. The actress has posted a message on social media, alerting her fans and followers that there’s a scam artist out there!

“Hi all! If you are receiving DMs from this account, it is NOT from me,” Scott posted on Instagram. “Please report this account (smelodythomas). It is fake!” Check out the actress’s post below to see what the fake account looks like. Note that a blue checkmark on a person’s social media accounts is used to verify when you’re seeing the real deal.

Scott’s followers responded to her post by sharing their thoughts on the matter. “There can be only one Queen,” offered @sewhaute. Added @perfectlywhitesmilesaustralia, “Get Victor [Eric Braeden] on it. He will sort it out.” @talin401 wrote, “I just reported. People have way too much time on their hands to do ridiculous things like this.”

While Scott’s never played a dual role on YR, some of her castmates have. The late Jeanne Cooper played, of course, not only Katherine Chancellor but also her doppelganger Marge. Everyone thought Kay had died when poor Marge passed away in an auto accident. The real Katherine was alive and later returned to her friends and family in Genoa City.

Tracey Bregman (Lauren) played a second part on the show when the writers wrote into the story that Sheila’s (Kimberlin Brown) sister Sarah Smythe had plastic surgery to make herself look like her sibling’s nemesis.

Stacy Haiduk first played Patty Williams on YR (using the alias Mary Jane Benson) and later came on as Patty’s psychiatrist Dr. Emily Benson. (Patty admired Emily so much that she had plastic surgery to make herself resemble the attractive doctor).

Also, Peter Bergman (Jack) took on the dual role of Marco Annicelli, a dangerous drug lord hired by Victor (Eric Braeden) to assume Jack’s life. Currently, Marco, who now bears a distinguishing scar, is in a Peruvian prison. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for airtimes.
