Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR)?? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?
Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.
With Thanksgiving just around the corner, Eileen Davidson is back for another run as Ashley Abbott. Look for Jack (Peter Bergman) and Traci’s (Beth Maitland) sister to turn up in Genoa City on Monday, November 11.
Donny Boaz has taken over the role Phillip “Chance” Chancellor IV, the son of Nina (Tricia Cast) and Phillip Chancellor III (Thom Bierdz). The character was last played by John Driscoll.
Boaz has a lengthy list of primetime and film credits. He played Bo McCabe on the Dallas reboot (2013-2014) and Buckely on Six (2017). Boaz also appeared on NCIS: New Orleans as Brad (2015) and Max Burris (2018). Also, Doug Davidson is back on the scene as Paul Williams on Tuesday, November 12.
YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more forward-moving storylines, along with complex characters. Needless to say, daytime soap opera quickly gained a new generation of fans and outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more. Similar to many CBS shows, the daytime sudser is taped in southern California and continues to be a tourist sight for soap opera fans visiting the area.
From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.
The Young and the Restless is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of Our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB).
