The Young and the Restless C&G News

Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR) for October 28 – November 1? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?

Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.

The week of October 28, 2019

Bye-bye Cane? Yes, it’s true. Daniel Goddard, who began playing the popular character back in 2006, shared the surprising news on social media that he’s been let go. The actor confessed that he was “shocked and gutted” by the move.

Jeffrey Vincent Parise, remembered as Carlos Rivera and his twin brother Joe on General Hospital, debuts as Simon Black on Friday, November 1. The character, who’s being described as a charming, dangerous stranger with ties to someone in Genoa City, will be around for a multiple-episode arc.

Mary-Margaret Lewis portrays Doris Tillington on Monday, October 28. Look for Dina’s (Marla Adams) old friend to share scenes with Peter Bergman’s Jack and Beth Maitland’s Traci. Gillian White plays Tammy Diamond on Monday, October 28

More About Young and the Restless

YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more forward-moving storylines, along with complex characters. Needless to say, daytime soap opera quickly gained a new generation of fans and outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more. Similar to many CBS shows, the daytime sudser is taped in southern California and continues to be a tourist sight for soap opera fans visiting the area.

From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.

Bringing the Drama

The Young and the Restless is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air.  The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of Our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB).
