Who’s coming and who’s going from The Young and the Restless (YR) for September 30 to October 4, 2019? Are any favorite performers from yesteryear returning to the daytime drama, this week, or in the near future?
Have any new actors or actresses been cast on the show in contract, recurring or day player roles? Are any well remembered or beloved stars from other soaps, past or present, about to join The Young and the Restless fold in surprise new parts? Here’s the latest casting news from the CBS soap.
Former General Hospital star Jeffrey Vincent Parise has found a new daytime home. Many soap fans are thrilled the actor is heading to YR for a recurring role slated to begin in November.
This time around, fans are hoping his character will have a longer shelf life. On GH, Parise played Carlos Rivera, Sabrina’s (Teresa Castillo) ex-boyfriend, from 2013 to 2016 on the ABC soap, as well as Carlo’s twin brother Joe in 2016.
Interestingly, his Genoa City character seems very similar to his Port Charles alias. In GC story arc, Parise will play Simon Black. The character, who is being described as charming and dangerous, has unfinished business with one of the citizens of Genoa City.
Lauren Woodland is heading back to Genoa City as Brittany Hodges on Monday, September 30. The lawyer will be back to town to help someone in a legal mess, who is in need of representation. The Young and the Restless (YR) airs weekdays on CBS. Check your local listings for air times.
YR made its debut in 1973 and introduced more forward-moving storylines, along with complex characters. Needless to say, daytime soap opera quickly gained a new generation of fans and outlasted other soaps to become a mainstay for many households. Four decades of storylines have kept viewers locked in and wanting more. Similar to many CBS shows, the daytime sudser is taped in southern California and continues to be a tourist sight for soap opera fans visiting the area.
From Victor Newman’s (Eric Braeden) family machinations to Paul Williams’ (Doug Davidson) heroism to the adorable love story of Kyle (Michael Mealor) and Lola (Sasha Calle), YR knows how to entertain and keep fans coming back for more. Sadly, times are shifting and daytime soap operas are shrinking.
The Young and the Restless is one of only four remaining soap operas currently on the air. The other three daytime dramas include General Hospital (GH), Days of Our Lives (DAYS), and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB).
