Y&R spoilers tease Devon Hamilton wrestles with his feelings over his biological son Dominic. However, Amanda Sinclair continues to push Devon to ask Abby Chancellor and Chance Chancellor to change their contractual agreement, which seems unhelpful for Devon. Does she have another motive?
Perhaps it’s not surprising that Amanda (Mishael Morgan) is pushing for Devon (Bryton James) to be more involved in Dominic’s life. After all, she grew up without her biological family, spending plenty of time in foster care. So perhaps she just wants Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Chance’s (Conner Floyd) son to connect more with his biological father.
It’s strange, though, since she helped Devon with Abby’s original paternity contract agreement. Amanda’s push for changes now seems somewhat out of character given her history as a straight-laced, rule-following lawyer. She surely realizes that Devon doesn’t have many rights regarding Dominic at this point, given that she literally helped write the contract. We predict that Amanda won’t drop the whole thing despite promising Devon she would stop pushing him where Dominic is concerned.
Perhaps another part of Amanda’s motivation is that she enjoyed watching Devon as a father, and she even appreciated the motherly role she played while Dominic stayed with them. But, of course, as Y&R spoilers have made clear, now isn’t a great time for her and Devon to have a baby since she’s beginning a brand new law firm with her sister, Imani Benedict (Leigh-Ann Rose).
Another possibility is that Amanda never actually agreed with the baby contract (she wouldn’t be the only one). Maybe pushing Devon to fight for more access to Dominic is her way of making up for her part in the baby contract. After seeing Devon with his biological son, Amanda realizes what harm the donation caused her boyfriend. It seems like she wants to correct her mistake, but in the end, who would win if there’s a messy legal battle? Certainly, Dominic wouldn’t come out ahead if his unorthodox family fought over him.
If this wasn’t Y&R, we’d speculate that Amanda somehow holds a grudge against Abby or even Chance, and causing chaos in their family is her revenge. However, that possibility is too far out there for the soap these days.
In the end, we believe Amanda cares about Devon and wants him to be happy. However, her end game here seems as if it’ll only cause more heartache for everyone involved, which is why her actions don’t make much sense. We suspect she’ll continue to push Devon toward asking Abby and Chance to give him a more significant role in Dominic’s life. Amanda’s poignant Christmas gift to Devon certainly didn’t make it seem like she planned to stop pushing anytime soon.
