The Young and the Restless
A major soap opera casting switch is about to go down at The Young and the Restless. In a surprise move, Richard Burgi is out as a business mogul and Victoria’s (Amelia Heinle) new husband, Ashland Locke. Taking over the role will be daytime vet Robert Newman, best remembered as Josh Lewis on Guiding Light. He’ll make his debut next month.
The Bold and the Beautiful
A new Forrester Creations executive has been cast at The Bold and the Beautiful. Akbar Gbajabiamila, former NFL player, host of American Ninja Warrior, and co-host of The Talk, makes his first appearance as Max on Tuesday, January 18.
Also, Henry Joseph Samiri is back on the scene as young Douglas Forrester on Thursday, January 20, and Friday, January 22, while Shireen Crutchfield pops in as Sequoyah, a Forrester Creations model, on Tuesday, January 18.
Days of our Lives
On the heels of Patrika Darbo’s return to Days of our Lives as Chloe Lane’s (Nadia Bjorlin) mother, Nancy Wesley, last week, comes word that Kevin Spirtas is resurrecting his role as Craig Wesley, Nancy’s husband, and Chloe’s father. Look for Craig, who made his last appearance on the soap opera in 2009, to arrive in Salem on Friday, January 21. Both Darbo and Spirtas popped up in the 2019-20 DOOL app series Last Blast Reunion.
ER alumna Ellen Crawford continues her stint as Mother Superior. She’ll air on Tuesday, January 18, and Wednesday, January 19.
Jay DeVon Johnson has been playing Judge Kirk Barnes, the official presiding over EJ DiMera’s (Dan Feuerriegel) trial. He airs again on Monday, January 17, and Thursday, January 20.
On the exit front, Kyle Lowder has wrapped up his latest run as Rex Brady. The door remains open for the character to return to the soap opera at a later date.
General Hospital
Over at General Hospital, Stephen A. Smith pops in for another appearance as Brick, Sonny Corinthos’s (Maurice Benard) trusted security advisor. The character warns his boss about a possible new threat on Monday, January 17.
Although Lydia Look has been MIA as Selina Wu, one of the heads of the five mob families in Port Charles, the actress will be back. Look told Soap Opera Digest that she’s been out of the country on vacation, but plans to resume the role upon returning to the States.
