Then, Jack found Diane in the park, and she had a complete breakdown. She cried over her conversation with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), and she went on a whole pity party. Doesn’t everybody know she’s just tried so so hard to be a better person? Poor, poor Diane. She decided to go straight to Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) to confess her sins to her son.

Then, Diane texted Kyle to ask him and Summer to meet with her. She and Jack went back to the office together to meet with their son and daughter-in-law.

Young and the Restless: Mixed Messages

Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) were at Crimson Lights. They were going over plans for their upcoming vow renewal. Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) were also there. For some reason, Tessa was paranoid that Summer and Kyle were talking about her modeling. However, it turned out that Kyle and Summer were planning their upcoming event, and they got congratulations all around. Then, Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) showed up, and he took Tessa and Mariah away, and Summer and Kyle wondered what was happening.

Ultimately, Kyle, Summer, Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), Jack, and Diane met in Jack’s office at Jabot. Diane confessed what she did, and then she resigned. Phyllis was all for that idea until Summer reminded her that if Diane left Marchetti, then Phyllis was out too. Phyllis argued her case, and of course, Diane agreed completely with her son and daughter-in-law. Ultimately, everybody accepted that Summer and Kyle meant business, so Diane and Phyllis left reasonably calmly.

Then, Jack suggested that Summer and Kyle give their moms a cooling-off period and offer them one more last chance. They weren’t quite convinced of that idea, and Summer thought Jack was a big pushover. However, after they discussed it, they decided to see what Phyllis and Diane did next, and if it was something reasonable, then they’d reinstate them with the stipulation that they must get along.

Later, Summer and Phyllis met up at Crimson Lights. Phyllis told her daughter about how terrible it was that she lost her job because Diane lost her mind. Summer still pushed back against her mom. She insisted it was too distracting to have Diane and Phyllis constantly getting into drama when they were trying to run a fashion house. Summer got called away, and Phyllis tried to go, but her daughter wanted to sleep on it.

After Summer left, Phyllis wondered if Diane was getting the better of her, but she vowed to herself that she wouldn’t let Diane win. She tried to figure out how to get to Summer and get her to open her eyes, so Phyllis decided to give her daughter a little nudge.

As for Kyle and Diane, they met at Society. Kyle pointed out how proud he was that Diane had owned up to what she did and resigned. She hoped that the situation wouldn’t cause them personal problems with their shaky family relationship, and Diane vowed to make sure they’d be okay. She resolved to do and be better. Kyle got called away, and Diane went with him.

Y&R Spoilers Recap: A Friendly Chat

At the Abbott house, Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) surprised Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland). The novelist wanted to know why her great-niece was home in the middle of the day, especially after Allie waxed poetic about how much she loved working at Jabot. She teased that Noah had a surprise, but she made Traci wait until the man himself arrived.

Thankfully, the wait wasn’t too long because Noah showed up with Mariah and Tessa in tow. They finally spilled the beans — Noah hoped to host a pre-vow renewal party for Summer and Kyle. Traci agreed to play the decoy at the event to ensure that the party remained a surprise.

Then they all had a huge discussion on whether or not to include both Diane and Phyllis. There were plenty of arguments for and against. Allie suggested something that allowed both the bride and groom’s mothers to attend. She wanted to host the moms one right after the other in shifts. Everybody agreed this plan just might work as long as they carefully got one mom to leave before the other showed up.

Summer, Kyle, and Diane showed up at The Grand Phoenix, and suddenly, all their friends and family jumped out and yelled, “surprise,” and they were indeed surprised. They all decided to party, and Noah welcomed everybody to The Glam Club. Not surprisingly, everyone was impressed by the new club.

Summer pulled her brother aside to find out where her parents were, and he revealed the staggered arrival time plan. Summer thought it was amazing, and she award him Brother of the Year honors, moments too soon. Phyllis walked in, and they got busted. She wasn’t pleased with what she saw. It looked like Phyllis got left out of her daughter’s pre-vow renewal celebration, and Diane smirked while Phyllis asked, “what’s going on?”
