The Y&R spoilers recap for Tuesday, October 4, 2022, brings Devon Hamilton suspecting something is off with his cousin Nate Hastings’s behavior after a talk with Elena Dawson.
Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) talked about what they liked best about their wedding. They both agreed Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) walking her down the aisle, was it. However, she also noted how much she enjoyed the three officiants they had, and she especially felt surprised that she and Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) were almost friends. Summer declared that the Bentley Tucker McCall (Travor St. John) tried to gift them might be cursed. Summer and Kyle saw her mother and grandmother with their heads together, and she wondered what they were up to. Kyle blew it off as them trying to do something to make Summer happy. Then, he distracted her with a toast.

Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) talked some more about Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) and what she had going on riding around in a Bentley in Los Angeles. Phyllis declared she thought there’d be a connection between the company that owned the car Diane rode around in and Tucker. Later, they ended up at the ranch, and Nikki revealed she had a fascinating piece of the puzzle thanks to her husband’s team.
Diane barged into Tucker’s hotel room at the Genoa City Athletic Club, and she wanted to know what he was doing arriving at the vow renewal in a helicopter. He told her to calm down since he’d given her a great cover, but Diane wasn’t so sure that everybody bought it. She declared herself done, saying that she’d satisfied her end of their agreement by giving him details about the Abbotts. Diane said things were over, but Tucker didn’t agree. He reminded Diane that she couldn’t have made progress with Kyle or Harrison if not for his help. Diane demanded Tucker tell her exactly what he wanted from the Abbotts because they’re her family now. He said all he wanted was what she got — forgiveness and acceptance. She noted how suspicious it was for them to be back in Genoa City at the same time, and she begged Tucker not to use her as his spy.
Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) and Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) sat on the couch in the Abbott living room, going over the photos he took at the ceremony. She proclaimed Kyle and Summer perfect for each other. Then, Allie ran across some amazing photos Noah took of her. Noah then said that the photographer loved his subject, and Summer and Kyle walked in, proclaiming that love was in the air.
They talked about how great things were despite Tucker’s crashing the party, and Allie fangirled about Tucker. Then, they shared some of his background in being married to Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), dating Diane, dating Sharon Newman Rosales (Sharon Case), etc. Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) walked in and said the less Allie knew about Tucker, the better. Later, Noah invited everybody to the afterparty at Club GLAM. They all decided to delete the memory of Tucker from the big day.
Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) went to Newman Enterprises, and Victor was there. Victor (Eric Braeden) asked about the wedding and then let them know that he got the financing secured to purchase shares of Chancellor-Winters when it goes public.
Nick dropped the bombshell that Tucker McCall crashed the wedding. Victor thought Tucker’s return was strange, considering he’d supposedly gone to Thailand to find himself. Nick also wondered what was happening there. Then, The Mustache wondered if Tucker and Chancellor-Winters going public might somehow be connected. They speculated that perhaps Tucker was working behind the scenes with Devon (Bryton James) and/or Jill Foster Abbott (Jess Walton).
Nick warned them that the possibility was yet another reason that they should avoid buying Chancellor-Winters, but Victoria wanted to press full speed ahead. She wasn’t afraid of Tucker, and they had an ace in the hole — Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic). They planned more insider trading, which Nick didn’t appreciate.
Later, Victor knocked on Tucker’s door at the GCAC, and Diane looked scared that she’d be caught.
Nate and Elena (Brytni Sarpy) ran into each other at Crimson Lights. She admitted that she felt unsettled at The Grand Phoenix, and they went back and forth a bit. However, ultimately, they agreed that taking a step back was healthy for them both.
He wanted to know how her introspection went. Of course, it’s only been one night, but Elena said something in him had changed, and she didn’t like it. She said Nate’s plan would hurt people. However, he said it’d create jobs and make people’s lives better, but it required sacrifice. Elena wondered what Nate was willing to sacrifice — his family? Her? She pushed back, and he admitted he’d come on strong, but he wanted her to understand him. Elena said she understood him, which made it so hard.
Devon walked in and asked them how they were. Nate declared everything was fine and promised to call Elena later, and he left. Devon offered to listen if Elena needed him to listen. Elena reluctantly talked to Devon. She pointed out that Nate had lost his center since the day he started working at Chancellor-Winters. The only thing Elena felt Nate cared about was making his mark. Devon said things had been better since he returned to work, and she backed up since she didn’t want to spill Nate’s plan. He assumed whatever was going on with Nate was his fault. Devon wondered what Elena was talking about, but she didn’t tell him what she meant and ended up leaving to go to work.
At Chancellor-Winters, Nate ran into Esther Valentine (Kate Linder). She said that she had a meeting with Devon, but she wasn’t sure what it was about. Nate and Esther talked about Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) and how she ran the company. The topic of Jill came up too, and Esther didn’t have great things to say about her, but then she admitted that Kay and Jill buried the hatchet in Katherine’s later years.
Devon showed up, and he, Nate, and Esther talked about Katherine. Devon remembered Kay’s motto — “Live life until I die.” Then, he got down to the reason for their meeting. Devon noted that Esther is part of the Chancellor legacy, and he asked her to be part of Chancellor-Winters as their receptionist. Esther excitedly said yes, and she agreed to start the next day at 8 a.m.
After Esther left, Devon asked Nate why he hadn’t been honest with him about things with Elena. Devon expressed his concerns about Nate and Elena’s relationship, and he revealed that Elena loved Nate and was worried about him. Devon offered whatever he could to help them reconcile. Nate blamed it all on Elena not liking his career change. He said Elena is looking to the past while he is looking forward. Nate told Devon that he was committed to working things out with Elena, but he was determined not to allow personal issues to interfere with his work at Chancellor-Winters. Victoria texted Nate to ask to meet, and he left to meet with her.
Nate met with Victoria at Newman Enterprises. She announced that Tucker returned to Genoa City, and Nate felt surprised that Devon didn’t mention it. Victoria suggested that either Devon didn’t know or he was keeping Nate out of the loop. She asked Nate to find out what Tucker was up to, and he agreed.
