Y&R Spoilers Recap For July 4: Jack & Phyllis Reveal Why They’re Over

The Y&R spoilers recap for Monday, July 4, 2022, brings some closure for Kyle Abbott and Summer Newman Abbott when their parents finally reveal what happened to break them up. Plus, Diane Jenkins overhears Summer telling off Phyllis Summers, Tessa Porter and Mariah Copeland get reassurance from Elena Dawson, and Noah Newman gives Allie Nguyen an ancient artifact.

Y&R Spoilers Recap Highlights

Summer (Allison Lanier) walked in on Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Diane (Susan Walters) arguing about the spa at The Grand Phoenix. Of course, as soon as her daughter arrived, Phyllis tried to do better, which meant Diane magically had an appointment after previously learning Phyllis had none. Phyllis gifted Diane with a resurrection transformation, which Diane was just dying to learn about.

Of course, Summer picked up on all of that. After Diane went into the spa for some pampering, Summer had a little talk with her mother. Phyllis blamed her history with Diane for the way she acted. Then, after some cajoling from Summer, Phyllis finally revealed that she used Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and ensured that Diane knew they’d been intimate. Summer wasn’t thrilled with her mother’s actions, and Diane overheard her tell her mom that Jack deserved far better than how Phyllis had treated him even if she was sorry.

At Society, Kyle (Michael Mealor) had a talk with his dad. He also finally got Jack to reveal what caused him and Phyllis to hit the brakes on their relationship. In the end, Jack realized that Phyllis always reverts to type, and she can’t help herself. Kyle was appalled, to say the least, and he worried what it would do to him and Summer if their mothers went to war…uh oh. The love of Kyle’s life might not love what his mother does to her mother.

Young and the Restless: Health Issues

Before he hit Society, Kyle grabbed coffee at Crimson Lights where he stuck his foot in it by telling Tessa (Cait Fairbanks) how excited he was about her concert. Mariah (Camryn Grimes) finally told him the tour was postponed due to Tessa’s vocal cord nodules, and Kyle was suitably concerned and sad for his friend. They also mentioned that their adoption plan was on hold until Tessa’s health issues are taken care of.

Later, Elena (Brytni Sarpy) showed up to help talk Tessa and Mariah through treatment options and give her a referral for a good surgeon. She also eased Tessa’s fears that her singing career might be over.

Y&R Spoilers Recap: Friendly Wager

At the Abbott mansion, Noah (Rory Gibson) showed up just after Allie (Kelsey Wang) told Jack that she wanted to take the internship at Jabot. He had a gift for her — an ancient MP3 player that happened to have an old radio murder mystery on it. The two listened together and placed friendly wagers on who’s theory was right. Ultimately, though, each of them was wrong about the killer’s identity, but they had a great time together anyway.
