The Y&R spoilers recap for Monday, July 25, 2022, brings a no-good terrible bad day for Ashland Locke when Nick Newman shows up to save the day for Victoria Newman, but just what does he save? Plus, Nikki and Phyllis plot to bring down Diane Jenkins while the woman herself gets some advice from Jack Abbott about her new job.
Victoria (Amelia Heinle) repeatedly asked Ashland (Robert Newman) to leave, but he refused. Instead, he continued to scream and yell at her, while physically moving toward her. Ashland grabbed Victoria, and she got away, grabbing a fire poker. Nick (Joshua Morrow) burst in right then.

Ashland told Nick to leave, insisting that he and Victoria were just saying their final goodbyes. However, Nick refused, and he told Victoria to call the police. She left the room to grab her phone, and Ashland and Nick exchanged words and tussled. Then, Nick punched Ashland, and he fell, hitting his head on the fireplace. Nick thought Ashland was faking, but then he determined that he wasn’t. Neither Nick nor Victoria could find a pulse. Nick insisted they call the police, but Victoria suggested they call Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd).
Nick was understandably upset about what happened, and he went outside. Victoria followed him and reassured him that he saved her. He was shaken that he’d taken a man’s life, though, even if it was somebody as terrible as Ashland. They went back indoors, and Ashland was gone — the backdoor banging in the wind.
Chance was at Crimson Lights talking to Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case), and they remembered Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso). Chance noted how the weather was bad, which typically led to accidents, and he apologized for bringing up bad memories. Then, Chance got the call from Victoria, and he said he’d stop by her house.
At The Grand Phoenix, Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) wondered why Ashley Abbott found something else to do when bringing down Diane (Susan Walters) was the most important thing in the history of the world. Ashley texted, letting them know that Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) could handle herself, but Phyllis doubted that. Nikki, however, figured that great aunt Ashley might know her better.
The two women discussed all things Diane and developed a plan that might work to get Diane out of town. Phyllis might take Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) up on her earlier job offer at Marchetti. That might just be the ticket. Phyllis hoped to discredit Diane at her job.
Diane stopped by the Abbott mansion and asked to talk to Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), but he and Summer were out. She stayed and talked with Jack (Peter Bergman). He thanked her for how she handled Ashland approaching their grandson, and it seemed that they were getting closer to each other.
As the evening went on, they flirted a bit. However, at one point, Diane told Jack she held out hope that one day they could be friends. She wondered what her chances were, and he answered that she didn’t want to know. The look on his face didn’t seem all that forgiving. Even so, he let her go peek in on their sleeping grandson.
