The Y&R spoilers recap for Wednesday, April 27, 2022, brings the fallout of Kyle Abbot learning his mother Diane Jenkins is alive and back in Genoa City. Plus, Sharon Rosales works to obtain some normality in the wake of Rey Rosales’s death.
Kyle (Michael Mealor) couldn’t believe the words his dad had told him. However, Jack (Peter Bergman) managed to tell him everything he knew about Diane’s (Susan Walters) life after she faked her death. While Kyle had read the Restless Style expose all those years ago, Jack assured his son that it didn’t explain everything. Taking the high road, Jack also noted that Kyle didn’t need to know everything.
Ashland Locke (Robert Newman) stopped by to see Harrison (Kellen Enriquez), and the little boy noticed his father’s injuries. A visibly moved Ashland asked for some time alone with Harrison, and Kyle agreed, so Ashland took Harrison to the park.
Then, Kyle decided to hold off making his decision until he talked with Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier). Still reeling from the news, Kyle went to Society where he tried to reach Summer, but she wasn’t answering. Then, his Aunt Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) showed up, and she offered to be his sounding board.
Traci condemned Diane’s behavior as outrageous and cruel. However, she still wondered if Kyle wanted to see her despite everything, and not surprisingly, he felt conflicted.
Speaking of Diane, she managed to escape her room at The Grand Phoenix, and she went to Crimson Lights where she learned Sharon’s husband had died. That left Diane shaken, and she went back to the hotel.
Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) spotted her wayward guest because she was in the lobby talking with Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan). Phyllis quickly hurried Amanda to the spa, and then she confronted Diane.
Later, Jack showed up at The Grand Phoenix, and he regretted failing to condemn her to Kyle. His only concern was Kyle.
Sharon (Sharon Case) found a note Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) had left her, and she cried, remembering their special times together. Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) surprised her by being home, and then Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) brought Faith Newman (Reylynn Caster) home from school. Sharon wasn’t too pleased, but then she allowed her daughter to stay home if that was what she needed.
Sharon insisted that she needed to keep her regular schedule and be involved in helping plan Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) and Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) wedding.
Speaking of the brides-to-be, they were at Crimson Lights planning their big day even though they were sad about Rey. Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) showed up, and she offered her condolences. Then, later, when Nick brought Sharon in, Elena also let Sharon know how sorry she was.
When Sharon joined Mariah and Tessa to plan the wedding, Tessa asked her to step in for her family. Sharon was honored to accept Tessa’s invitation. Then, Mariah told Nick how much like a father he was to her, and she asked Nick to walk her down the aisle. He too felt honored.
At home, Noah helped ease Faith’s worries about their mother rushing back to normalcy. He reminded Faith that people grieve in different ways, and maybe continuing forward was exactly what Sharon needed at this time.
