The Y&R recap for Tuesday, November 8, 2022, brings shocking moments when two people catch their significant others in the act, and a business owner shows up to a mostly empty office.
Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) took Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) to task for his scheming before she and Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) decided to surprise Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) and Devon Hamilton (Bryton James), and they end up being the ones surprised. Plus, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) caught up with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) before she welcomed Nate to Newman, and Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) did her first therapy session before Billy’s visit. Plus, Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) was furious to learn Billy quit just when Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) needed him most. Now let’s take a deeper look at what happened.
Amanda ran into Nate in the hallway. She updated him on her mom’s situation, and he offered some hope. Amanda asked to talk, and Nate reluctantly asked her to go inside. Once inside, Amanda immediately took Nate to task for his devious scheme. Nate wasn’t having it, though. He tried to leave, but Amanda said she had other business to discuss.
Amanda wondered if Nate understood the legal problems she might have caused himself, Victoria, and Newman Enterprises, but Nate denied that he was colluding with Victoria. As far as Nate was concerned, Amanda’s warnings were pointless. She switched tactics, wondering if he’d tried to make amends with Devon. Nate pointed out that he didn’t need Amanda’s judgment. She asked if there was some way she could bridge the gap between the two of them.
Nate reminded Amanda what led up to his mistake. He admitted he’d done something wrong, but he wasn’t willing to take total responsibility. He also told Amanda that he’d tried to make amends with Devon, but it didn’t work. He also let her know his theory about Devon holding on too tight to Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John). Ultimately, Nate admitted he wish he’d done something different. Despite everything, Amanda wanted to help the cousins make peace, and she promised Nate that she’d talk to Devon. Nate expressed that Devon was lucky to have Amanda on his side.
Chance called Abby, and he left her a voicemail. Ultimately, he apologized for not coming home. Chance said he wanted to work things out. At the same time, Devon and Abby were ripping off each other’s clothes in the living room of his penthouse. Chance ran into their nanny at Society, and she let him know Abby took Dominic to Devon’s. Meanwhile, Devon and Abby were christening every surface, including the stairs and the floor. After it was all over, Abby said she felt seen and cared for by Devon, and she wanted to hold onto it.
As Nate and Amanda finished talking, Chance showed up. He and Amanda decided to go surprise Abby and Devon in the penthouse. But they were the ones who got surprised when they found Abby and Devon under a sheet on the couch looking guilty and mostly naked.
Lily left Devon a message to please call her back and help her get through their piles of work. Esther Valentine (Kate Linder) came in, and Lily asked her to keep an eye out for Devon. Jill showed up, and she was shocked to see Esther working at Chancellor-Winters. Jill asked to see Billy, but he wasn’t there, so she asked to see Devon and Lily. Jill wasn’t at all thrilled when Esther said Devon wasn’t there either.
Jill burst into Lily’s office, wanting to know what was happening with the entire C Suite. She wasn’t thrilled that Lily didn’t have all hands on deck. Lily remained calm and tried to reassure Jill that everything was being handled. Esther came in, and she explained that Devon worked from home due to Dominic, and Jill not so subtly told Esther that she heard a phone ringing.
When they were alone, Jill wanted to know where Billy was, and Lily danced around the topic, but Jill insisted that Lily let her know. Ultimately, Lily dropped the bombshell news that Billy resigned. Jill was furious that her son had quit. Lily tried to calm her down, but Jill continued ranting and raving. She was so disappointed in her son.
Lily admitted she may have made a mistake in getting Billy to stop the podcast. She also told Jill that it was important for Billy to show up for her, but Jill didn’t buy it. She thought it was just more of Billy’s pattern. Jill declared that Billy had no excuse for his behavior, and then Jill told Lily that she deserved better than Billy — a person who let her down in her time of need. Lily expressed her love for Billy and her hope that he finds what makes him happy.
At Society, Billy and Victoria met over a meal. She revealed that Johnny Abbott (Paxton Mishkind) and Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) had a discussion about Chelsea at their Halloween sleepover, and Victoria thought it had changed things for their son. Billy expressed his surprise. They talked about Johnny, and Billy wanted to know if Victoria was cool with the whole Chelsea thing.
Victoria insisted that it was still up to Johnny. She pointed out that everybody, including Chelsea, had intense feelings about the situation. Victoria wondered if Billy expected her to feel guilty about Chelsea’s feelings. Billy admitted that he may feel guilty himself.
At Newman Enterprises, Nate stopped by Victoria’s office on his way to Human Resources. Victoria encouraged Nate to open up to her after he made a loaded comment, and Nate said Victoria’s leadership style was refreshing.
At the facility, Chelsea’s new therapist, Dr. Malone (Keena Ferguson), came into her room and wanted to begin their first session. Chelsea complained about the one-sided nature of their relationship since they’re complete strangers. As they began talking, Chelsea admitted she was nervous and embarrassed, and she asked the therapist how she felt. The therapist admitted how she used to put up walls while treating patients who attempted suicide, but she’d learned how to stop.
Chelsea seemed moved that her therapist had talked to lots of people in her situation. However, Chelsea wasn’t ready to talk about her thoughts and feelings leading up to her moment on the rooftop. Chelsea admitted she’d felt like she’d been running from her emotions since she was young, so she wouldn’t have time to stop and feel. Chelsea relayed that since having her stroke, she couldn’t get away from her emotions, and she just couldn’t run anymore, which led her to the other night. She felt so tired and so done with the pain.
Billy showed up as Dr. Malone left Chelsea’s room, and he asked for an update. The therapist told Billy that it was important for Chelsea not to be judged. She encouraged him to tell Chelsea how glad he was she is still alive. Billy went into Chelsea’s room, and she told him he didn’t have to visit. Billy said he was where he wanted to be. She apologized for dragging Billy into her mess. He let her know that he was grateful she was still here. Billy offered to talk to Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) for Chelsea, but she said she had to be the one to tell him.
