Nate Hastings did his apology tour on The Young and the Restless, and he can’t quite figure out why Lily Winters and Devon Hamilton aren’t grateful to welcome him right back into the family fold. Elena Dawson seems to see what her boyfriend can’t.

The Nate Hastings Apology Tour Rings False

For weeks, Nate (Sean Dominic) went down a destructive path, hellbent on helping Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) take over Chancellor-Winters. Elena (Brytni Sarpy) continually called him on his duplicitous actions, but Nate powered through them and kept going.

When Elena finally pulled the plug on their relationship, Nate did a 180 and confessed his sins — most of them, at least. He did continue to protect Victoria’s role in the whole thing. As for Victoria, she used Nate to get rid of what she saw as a Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) problem and hired him to replace her (we’re not quite sure why she was so insistent on having Nate, but she was).

Now that Nate has said he was sorry, he seems baffled as to why those simple words aren’t working. Well, he not only tried to destroy his cousins Devon (Bryton James) and Lily (Christel Khalil), but also he nearly took out Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) family business. Suddenly, he blamed Devon’s holding onto Neil Winters’s (Kristoff St. John) legacy for his choices, but that doesn’t sit right with anybody either.

It seems that Nate thought he could back up and say “my bad” and make everything okay…even with Elena. Now that nobody has accepted his sudden about-face, he seems quite confused and is grasping at straws for how to justify his actions. While he stopped the whole plan, it still doesn’t seem as if he is really sorry about everything, especially since he’s still attempting to protect Victoria even though everybody sees through that too.

What do you think about this whole Nate Hastings storyline? Does he deserve forgiveness just because he said he was sorry, or are Lily and Devon (and even Elena) right to call him out? Let us know in the comments below.
