Failing Up: Should Nate Hastings Be CEO Of Y&R’s Newman Media?

There is only one way to get a new job in Genoa City.

Nate Hastings just can’t lose for winning, can he? The guy betrays his family, gets fired, and loses his girlfriend…but Victoria Newman still offers him a new, better job.

Young and the Restless Polling

Despite the fact that Victoria (Amelia Heinle) knows Nate (Sean Dominic) doesn’t know the meaning of the word loyalty and that he has no experience in the corporate world and failed at his last position…she still wants to fire Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope), who has both experience, loyalty, and has yet to fail spectacularly, and put Nate into her old position. Is this a smart or dumb call?

Nate Hastings Is In Over His Head

He’s still unqualified, 76% of you remind. Failing at Chancellor-Winters doesn’t count as the kind of experience that will take Newman Media to the next level. Sure, he had that medical podcast back in the day. But that’s like saying that because you’ve been sued, you’re qualified to be a lawyer. It doesn’t work that way. Nate has no training, and we’ve been led to believe that he also has terrible business instincts. Why should he keep getting rewarded for it?

Y&R Cat Out of the Bag

Correct us if we’re wrong, a polite 15% of the audience would like to interject, but won’t Nate suddenly going to work for Victoria make it obvious whom he was spying for? Right now, Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and even Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) still suspect that it was Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John). This will make it obvious, no?

Win-Win For Nate Hastings

Only 9% think it makes perfect sense. Victoria wants Sally out, and Nate needs a job. Since all hiring in Genoa City happens based on nepotism, why not hire the guy you once sort of dated? It’s not like Victoria isn’t a control freak who micro-manages her businesses, and Nate will actually get the chance to…you know…do business stuff.
