The Y&R recap for Tuesday, November 1, 2022, brings serious pain, a shocking revelation, and a possibly insurmountable marriage issue. Please Note: This episode features sensitive content that could be triggering, so be aware.
Today, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) ensured that Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) was safe, and he kept Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) away for the time being. Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case) came when Billy called, and she also kept his confidence. Elsewhere, Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) realized that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) was the Chief Executive Officer with whom Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) had colluded. Finally, Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) had some real words for Abby Newman Abbott Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) that she wasn’t at all ready to hear.
Billy stayed with Chelsea in her hotel room despite her asking him to leave. She was furious that he’d interfered with her plans to end her life — Chelsea accused Billy of taking her choice away from her. He apologized, and later, he had some bad jokes, which irritated her, but Billy told Chelsea he’d be staying there because he wasn’t going to let her hurt herself, which would also hurt Connor Newman (Judah Mackey).
Ultimately, she told Billy that she kept hearing voices of people in her life telling her how she’d messed up. Chelsea insisted that the things she’d done weren’t fixable, but Billy reminded her that she had lots to live for. Billy mentioned Connor, but Chelsea screamed at him to stop saying her son’s name — Connor is better off without her. The whole world would be better if she weren’t in it.
Earlier, at Glam Club, Adam told Lily he’d found Billy and Chelsea, and then he harangued Lily about what happened on the roof. Lily wasn’t in the mood to make nice with Adam, and she didn’t know anything anyway. Eventually, Adam left and went to bang on Chelsea’s hotel door while she and Billy quietly listened. He sent her a text and called Billy. Billy told Chelsea that the whole world could stay out because the only thing that mattered was her.
Adam finally went away, and Billy told Chelsea that she could shut those voices out like he did about Delia. He also noted that talking to somebody helped, but she admitted she didn’t have friends or family to talk to. He ended up helping her get ready to go to sleep. As Chelsea slept, Billy called Sharon, and he asked her to come talk with Chelsea but keep the details to herself.
As Sharon was leaving, Adam came in asking about Chelsea. Sharon played dumb, and Adam said he thought Billy might be responsible for whatever might have happened to Chelsea. Adam insisted that Chelsea had to be reachable, and Sharon ducked out without really talking much to him.
Billy called Lily Winters (Christel Khalil), and she was irate that he’d left her at the club. Lily wanted to know if everything was okay, and she said that Adam was concerned, which made her wonder if she should be concerned. Billy told Lily that Chelsea had an incident, and he planned to stay with her until she got some professional help. He told Lily not to worry, but she said she was already worried. Sharon knocked on the door, so he had to go.
In the hallway, Billy relayed that Chelsea was about to jump and he got her down. Sharon was aghast, and she said she hadn’t realized things had gotten so bad with Chelsea. Sharon wanted to know if Chelsea had taken drugs or drunk alcohol. Sharon wanted to put Chelsea in a facility where she can be monitored for 72 hours. and insisted that no matter what they had to get Chelsea to the facility. After they discussed Chelsea, Sharon wanted to know if Billy was okay, and he remembered the night Delia died. He admitted that he had the same feeling holding Chelsea that she would be okay that he’d had when he held Delia as she was dying.
Chelsea woke up, and Sharon went into her room. Billy apologized and said he needed some help. Chelsea looked betrayed as Sharon told her that she wanted to help Chelsea get help. Chelsea denied that she needed help, but Sharon asked Chelsea to trust her or if not her, Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso). She asked Chelsea not to throw away the second chance that Rey had given her. Chelsea agreed to let Sharon help her get help.
An angry Abby found Chance at Crimson Lights instead of at home to celebrate Halloween with her and Dominic. She wanted to know what was going on with him. Chance told her that they might be going through a down phase. However, everything was good with them until Chance had to fulfill his work obligations, but he pointed out that it was his job. Chance said Abby resented his job, which she didn’t appreciate. She wanted to go home, but Chance insisted they talk there instead.
Abby cried that she didn’t resent Chance’s job and how much she’d given to him and his job. She reiterated everything she’d accepted and put up with. Chance told Abby that she wasn’t being honest, though, because she hadn’t really accepted his job. He wanted to be open and real, but Chance pointed out that something was brewing between them. Chance noted what she resented and he also admitted that he resented having to help Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). He also blamed her for not liking the realities of his profession. Instead of staying to talk, Abby huffed out of the coffee shop after telling Chance that he didn’t get to tell her how she felt.
At Society, Devon ran into Victoria and Nate while they were celebrating his accepting a job as CEO of Newman Media. Devon took Victoria to task for hiring Nate, and then he ended up calling her out for teaming up with Nate to take over Chancellor-Winters. Victoria denied it, but Devon wouldn’t let her talk her way out of it. Then, he accused Victoria of not honoring Neil Winters’s (Kristoff St. John) memory.
Victoria denied it, but Devon said that she was lying. She pointed out that they don’t owe each other anything professionally at all. She said that Chancellor-Winters and Newman Enterprises were rivals. Nate begged Devon to leave Victoria out of it. Devon left after telling Victoria to watch her back. Nate apologized for Devon, and Victoria thought things were fine. However, Nate worried that things with Devon weren’t over, but she said that having Nate on her team was worth whatever trouble it might cause.
As they left, Devon looked up, and he pulled out his phone to call Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan). However, then Abby dropped a whole container of lemons, and Devon got distracted by helping her. Devon tried to calm her down about her fight with Chance, but she said their problems seemed fundamental. Abby cried to Devon and he hugged her.
