The Y&R recap for Monday, January 9, 2023, brings some shocking developments for one Genoa City business, a man thinking he got the woman of his dreams only to have her leave, an ex discovering something shocking, and so much more.
Y&R Recap Highlights
Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) ended up kissing, and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) saw it after she’d taken Daniel Romalotti’s (Michael Grazaidei) advice to make up with Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier). Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) had it with her brother and sought refuge with Tucker McCall (Trevor St. John), but it didn’t end how she’d hoped. Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) revealed Audra Charles (Zuleyka Silver) as a traitor, and Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) fired her. However, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) had an offer for Audra. Now let’s take a deeper dive into what happened.
Young & Restless Recap: Old Flames
Jack extolled the virtues of stealing from Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott), but Diane wasn’t quite sure. Jack promised he’d smooth it over with Nikki. Ashley walked in on the last part, and she assured everybody that they couldn’t smooth over things with her if that’s who they were talking about. The siblings argued about their house and guests, and Ashley flounced out, slamming the door.
Diane insisted that she felt bad about the rift Jack had with Ashley, but Jack said it wasn’t Diane’s fault. They decided to drop the subject of Jeremy Stark (James Hyde) for the time being. Diane got personal and said she wanted to kiss Jack. She told him that her feelings for him weren’t out of gratitude or a holdover from the past. Instead, Diane felt she and Jack developed a real friendship and feelings. She worried that she couldn’t even pretend to like Jeremy when she liked Jack so much.
Jack wondered if Diane was using Jeremy to find out what was going on with him and Diane. She said she might be doing that, and Diane suggested they talk about what was happening. Jack admitted that he cared a lot for Diane. They kissed, and Phyllis walked up to the front door and saw them. Diane stopped their kiss and said she had to go to her hotel alone. Jack promised her they would handle things together.

Y&R Recap: Big News
Audra gave Tucker the big news that the Chancellor-Winters Initial Public Offering was imminent. She wanted to strategize, but Tucker said he needed to consider it. She was shocked by his lack of excitement about the information. As Audra left Tucker’s suite, she got a text from Devon to meet as soon as possible.
Upset, Ashley showed up at Tucker’s hotel suite. She complained that Diane was always at her house. She went off that Diane was turning her brother into a sucker. Ashley freaked out that her life was a daily Diane Hell, and Tucker laughed while saying he was sorry Ashley was so upset even though it was heavenly for him to see her calm and cool in one moment and wild and fiery the next — in his room. He appreciated that the whole thing reawakened Ashley’s spark.
He commented on how sexy she was to him, and Ashley wanted to know what Tucker planned to do about it. The two ended up in bed together, and they reacquainted themselves with each other. Tucker said he’d missed it, but Ashley refused to agree that she did. She said that she loved it, she hated it, and she hated that she loved it. Ashley said it was only a small part of a bigger picture since they had no evidence that they actually worked together. She declared herself too smart to fall for Tucker again, but she denied that what happened indicated they would get back together.
While Tucker took a shower, Ashley dug around in his room, and she found paperwork for Ashley Abbott Beauty Incorporated. In the file, there were comps and evaluations for Jabot. Tucker walked in on her snooping and told Ashley he figured she already knew everything that was in the folder. Tucker said the whole folder was exploratory, and he said he’d decided not to go after Jabot. Instead, he came up with an alternate plan for himself and Ashley. She wasn’t pleased, and she got ready to leave. Tucker told her that they both knew what was happening between them was real.
Young and the Restless: The Bigger Person
At Crimson Lights, Phyllis met with Daniel. She started going off about Summer, but Daniel shut it down. They started talking about work at Omegasphere, instead. Daniel was disappointed that his mom hadn’t looked at the resumes that he’d sent over, and he promised not to let her down the way Summer had let her down. Phyllis admitted she was tired, and she asked Daniel if they could try again in the morning.
Daniel was fine to put off the meeting, but he wondered if his mom was really tired or if it was about Summer. Phyllis cried and said it hurt that Summer chose Diane over her. Daniel couldn’t believe he was doing it, but he told his mom everything Summer had said about how much she blamed Diane. Phyllis wondered why Summer did what she did, and Daniel admitted it was because Summer wanted to protect Kyle. He reminded Phyllis Summer needed her support and asked his mom to be the bigger person and give Summer a break.
Of course, Daniel wouldn’t let Phyllis tell Summer he’d clued her in. Instead, he advised his mom to apologize to Summer and be the bigger person. Lily walked in, and Phyllis noted Daniel’s distraction. Phyllis thanked her son for telling her about Summer, and he made her promise not to rat him out.
Daniel walked over to Lily, and she told him she just found out about another work crisis she hadn’t seen coming. Daniel immediately worried that it was about Omegasphere. Lily reassured him that they were all behind the gaming platform. Lily declared they should sit there and talk about other things.
Y&R Recap: You’re Fired
Earlier, Lily and Devon met at Chancellor-Winters in person. They briefly talked about personal stuff. Lily insisted that they were going to do the Initial Public Offering, but Devon alerted his sister that they had yet another traitor at their company — Audra. Devon explained that he figured out Tucker and Audra were in contact. She tried to play it off as nothing, but Devon said that he had somebody look into the whole thing. He revealed that an LLC associated with Tucker paid off all her school debt — Only Eyes For You.
Devon wanted to know what was going on, and Lily asked if Audra had been working with Tucker the whole time. Audra admitted that she knew Tucker from her time in London. Even so, Devon didn’t think that meant she and Tucker weren’t working together. Audra assured them that Tucker posed no threat to them, but Lily didn’t believe her, and she fired her on the spot.
Audra asked Devon if he felt the same way. He wondered what type of case she could make for staying, but Audra revealed that she knew all about Tucker’s plans for him, but Devon said he couldn’t trust Audra. He reminded her that she’d signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement. He wasn’t having any of it, and Devon told her they no longer needed her services. She left with the parting shot that Devon had been letting foxes into the hen house, pointing out that he’d been played. Audra wondered how Devon had made it as far as he had.
Devon showed up at Tucker’s hotel suite and pounded on the door, demanding his dad open it. Devon apologized to Ashley, and then he laid into his dad for colluding with Audra. Tucker denied knowing anything, but Devon suggested his dad check his messages since Audra was fired. Devon said their relationship was over, and he took his dad to task for never being there for him.
Tucker warned Devon that he was getting dangerously close to crossing a line with him. Devon took offense, and then he warned his dad to leave town because Devon planned to make it his mission to ensure nobody in Genoa City ever trusted him again. Devon left, and Tucker tried to smooth things over with Ashley, but she said she never trusted him. Ashley left, and Tucker threw papers around his room.
Audra went to Society, and she joined Nate. She let him know that she was done at Chancellor-Winters, but she didn’t tell him exactly what had happened. Nate wondered if she was leaving Genoa City, and she said she was. However, he said if she was interested in sticking around, he might have a position for her. He needed a Chief Operating Officer at Newman Media, and she tossed her hat into the ring.
A frustrated Tucker showed up at Glam Club, and he saw an upset Phyllis sitting there. Tucker noted that Phyllis looked how he felt, but she acted like she didn’t know what he meant. Tucker wondered if Phyllis was ready to burn it all down.
