Tucker McCall is doing his best to charm and woo his ex-wife, Ashley Abbott, on The Young and the Restless. Sure, he’s lied to her and cheated on her before. And he’s lying to her now. But, hey, they have chemistry, so there’s that.
Young and the Restless: Slim Pickings
Let’s get real: Ashley (Eileen Davidson) doesn’t have a lot of romantic options in Genoa City. (We don’t know how the pickings are in France.) The last guy she sparked with, Ravi the Tech Guy, was written off without so much as a “Bye, I got a better offer to work at Google.”
Since then, she’s been footloose and fancy-free. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Except if you want a front-burner soap story. Then you need a romance. Preferably one with a deep, dark secret in the center of it. Tucker (Trevor St. John) would give Ashley that.
The Y&R Elephant in the Room
The only other person Ashley has had a long-term relationship with who is still on the canvas is Victor Newman (Eric Braeden). Victor hates Tucker. He especially hated how he barged in on him and demanded that Tucker tell him why he’s in Genoa City, and Tucker said, “Uhm…no.” And then he smirked.

Victor is not used to being told no. Much less while being smirked at. Can you imagine how furious Victor would be if Tucker not only outsmarted him in business but ended up with Ashley, too? Ashley is the mother of one of Victor’s children! Does she not know that once Victor’s had her, no one else is allowed to? Her job is to sit and pine for him quietly.
Ashley Abbott: Grown-Ups Needed
Finally, it’ll be nice to see a romance for the over-50 set. Victor and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) are set in their ways. Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) have too much baggage between them. Let Ashley carry the flag for grown-ups having fun too!
