The Young and the Restless recaps for May 2 – May 6, 2022, feature a son deciding whether he can or can’t forgive the mother who walked out on him years previous, big business shenanigans, and much more.
Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) gives her arguments for abandoning Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) and allowing the world to believe her dead… When Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) concedes that Diane could indeed be reformed, a horrified Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) urges him to keep his guard up.
Chance Chancellor (Conner Floyd) tells Abby Carlton Newman Abbott Chancellor (Melissa Ordway) the truth about Rey Rosales’s (Jordi Vilasuso) death. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) pays the couple a visit and gives Chance a much-needed pep talk. Afterward, he lets himself into Diane’s hotel room and awaits her arrival.
Victor tells Diane that it’s in her best to leave town; she immediately makes plans to do just that… Kyle and Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) reconnect. She asks him to officiate her and Tessa Porter’s (Cait Fairbanks) wedding renewal, but he hedges. He later confides in her about Diane.
Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) irks Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) with his pointed questions about her relationship with Ashland Locke (Robert Newman). Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) happens upon the tense exchange and castigates Billy for continually involving himself in Victoria’s affairs. Furthermore, she warns him against letting his feud with Ashland get the better of him.
Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) and Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) reaffirm their growing affection for one another… Victoria insists to her father Adam’s services at Newman/Locke – soon to be rechristened Newman Enterprises – are no longer required.
Adam is stunned to hear that Diane is back among the living… Victoria decides to heed Victor’s desire for her to hire a co-CEO at Newman, and conscripts Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott). Though he’d rather the job have gone to Adam, Victor approves of his daughter’s shrewd move.
Kyle subjects Diane to a strenuous Q&A at the end of which, he agrees there may be a way for the two of them to move forward… Ashland confesses his cancer lie to Jack.
Tessa learns that Rey cleared the deck for her sister’s return to Genoa City. She shares the news with Mariah and Noah Newman (Rory Gibson) first, and then Sharon Rosales (Sharon Case). Sharon decides to throw together a last-minute memorial service for Rey and sets about inviting his nearest and dearest.
Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) worries about Chelsea Lawson’s (Melissa Claire Egan) state of mind, and wonders if her friend was in love with Rey; Chelsea strenuously denies the charge… Ashland offers Nicholas Newman (Joshua Morrow) a $250 million donation to New Hope on the proviso that it be endowed in Rey’s name. Nikki is aghast at Ashland’s nerve, but Victoria pushes Nick to accept.
Adam gives considerable thought to distancing himself from the Newman family; he and Diane share a scratchy cross at The Grand Phoenix… Kyle summons Diane to the Abbott manse where his father, Phyllis, Abby, Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland), and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) have gathered… Lily and Billy spar over his most recent podcast – a thinly veiled attack on Ashland.
