The Y&R spoilers recap for Monday, May 2, 2022, brings a major shock for Diane Jenkins in the form of Victor Newman. Before that, he stops by to visit his forgotten daughter, Abby Chancellor, and her husband Chance Chancellor. Plus, Diane talks with an angry Kyle Abbott while Phyllis Summers loses it over Jack Abbott’s unexpected take on Diane.
Y&R Spoilers Recap Highlights
Sad Kyle (Michael Mealor) opened the door to his mom. Diane (Susan Walters) couldn’t get over all the memories of the Abbott mansion. Diane assumed and Kyle told her what that meant…Kyle wasn’t thrilled with his mom turning up after he mourned her for years. He wanted to know what possible excuse she had to justify her horrible misdeed.
She mentioned that she’d followed his life from a distance, and that enraged Kyle. He didn’t make it easy for his mother to explain why she did what she did. Oh, but the Abbotts would’ve torn him from her in courts, so…that’s why she left him.
Diane insisted that she had nothing to offer him and Kyle was better off without her. After all, she was toxic, but Jack was stable and secure. She felt she made the right call about leaving Kyle and faking her death. Kyle didn’t buy it though, but he did praise Jack, especially for how he didn’t disparage Diane to him. How could Kyle believe his mother had truly changed? In fact, she was deceitful and manipulative even coming back into their lives. Diane simply isn’t trustworthy.
For her part, Diane gave her sob story yet again. She’d worked so hard to overcome her past and become a better person. Diane is ashamed of who she was, and she vowed to never be that woman again. She hoped eventually Kyle could contemplate forgiving her. Kyle gave her a maybe.
Young and the Restless: What?
Meanwhile, Jack (Peter Bergman) fretted about his son and Diane at Crimson Lights. Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) was on hand to offer her words of wisdom. She pledged that her daughter, Summer Newman Abbott (Allison Lanier) would for sure see through anything Diane might try to pull off.
Of course, Jack went there and wondered if Diane’s story might be true. Shouldn’t they give her the benefit of the doubt? Phyllis freaked out, but Jack pointed out that his mother had deserted him, and he gave her another chance. Phyllis wasn’t having it. No way. No how. Jack pointed out people could say the same thing about her, and Phyllis really lost it then.

Y&R Spoilers Recap: Promises
Chance (Conner Floyd) dropped a bombshell on Abby (Melissa Ordway). He let his bride know that Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) died of a heart attack. Weird since he was young and supposedly healthy. Chance mourned the loss of his best friend and partner.
The doorbell rang, and Abby urged her husband to turn their visitor away. Of course, when it turned out to be Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), Abby changed her tune. Chance also let Victor know how Rey died. Then Victor counseled Chance about embracing life because it’s so short.
After Victor left, Chance promised Abby he’d be the husband and father she needs him to be. He won’t waste a minute shutting down, despite losing Rey.
Y&R: Surprise
Back at the Abbott mansion, Jack and Phyllis came in right as Diane was leaving. They sat down with Kyle for a bit, but he declined to give them any details on what Diane said to him. Jack respected his son’s boundary.
As for Diane, she went back to her hotel room, and she had a surprise guest — Victor Newman. And he didn’t look at all happy as Diane withered a bit under the glare of Victor’s stare.
