The Young and the Restless recap brings Fenmore Baldwin and his boyfriend Trey back to Genoa City to celebrate Lauren Fenmore Baldwin’s lifetime accomplishments to mark actress Tracey Bregman’s 40 years on the soap.
Y&R Recap Highlights
Everybody gathered to celebrate Lauren at The Grand Phoenix. Michael, Gloria, Kevin, Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson), Fenmore, and Trey were there, and Lauren caught her younger son’s boyfriend up on her whole exciting life. Now let’s take a deeper dive into what happened.
Young and the Restless Recap: A Wild Ride For Lauren Fenmore
At The Grand Phoenix, Gloria (Judith Chapman) wondered where Scotty was, and Lauren relayed that he was on a writing assignment. The good news is that Fenmore was able to arrive, and he had a lovely surprise for everybody — a boyfriend. Fen (Zach Tinker) introduced Trey to the whole gang — his Uncle Kevin (Greg Rikaart), Aunt Chloe, and Grandma Glo, along with Michael and Lauren.
Trey was thrilled to meet everybody — especially Lauren. It seems that the new boyfriend was a buyer for Fenmore’s in Nashville. Trey wanted the iconic Lauren Fenmore Baldwin’s life story, and she agreed to tell him all about herself — from the beginning.

Everybody grabbed a cocktail and settled in for a big story. She admitted that she was a daddy’s girl, but she didn’t really care much for her mother, Joanna Manning (Susan Seaforth Hayes). She flashed back to a contentious moment between them. She called her mother a selfish ice queen and her father, Neil Fenmore (Jim Storm), indulgent, who worked too many hours.
Lauren’s other big passion as a younger woman was music, and she got the opportunity to sing with Danny Romalotti (Michael Damian). Of course, he was nicer than she was back then, and she talked about her big mean girl days when she tortured Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) — she certainly wasn’t her best self. Michael pointed out that she grew out of it, but for Lauren, it wasn’t quick enough.
Of course, her era of getting in trouble led to her meeting her first husband — Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) — the current chief of police and a former private investigator. Lauren said they shouldn’t have made sense, but they did. She had a lovely flashback with Paul, and she explained how her inlaws were not so pleased with her for their son.
Gloria piped up and said she’d always approved of Lauren as her daughter-in-law, but she asked why things ended between Lauren and Paul. It was Shawn Garrett, the president of her fan club. He’d threatened to kill Paul if she didn’t divorce him, so she did. When Shawn tried to kill Lauren, Paul rescued her, saving her life.
Young and the Restless: The Evil Sheila Carter
Next came the details of Lauren’s father dying, and Lauren ended up changing career paths, and taking over the family business. She grew up and was determined to make her dad proud, and Michael pointed out that she had, making Neil Fenmore’s legacy even more successful than it was with him.
During that time, Lauren met her second husband, Dr. Scott Grainger (Peter Barton). The doctor was Scotty’s dad, but he died early. Lauren brought up Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) — a nurse who worked for Dr. Grainger. Lauren called Sheila pure evil and explained how she experienced the heartache of Scott fathering Sheila’s baby. Lauren was also pregnant at the same time, and she hid it from Scott, and unfortunately, the baby didn’t survive. Sheila was vicious about that too.
Sheila’s mom, Molly Carter (Marilyn Alex), revealed that Sheila had switched their babies at the hospital. Sheila tried to kill them all, and Lauren and Molly escaped. She thought Sheila had died. She hadn’t, though, and Lauren said it kicked off decades of torture. Now, she’s been assured that Sheila is dead, but she vowed that if she wasn’t (and we all know she’s not dead), Sheila will wish she’d stayed dead if she messed with Lauren or her family.
Y&R Recap: Relationship Goals
Kevin explained how he’d inadvertently led to Michael (Christian Le Blanc) and Lauren’s meeting. He sheepishly admitted how he’d fallen for Lauren and didn’t handle it well when she didn’t feel the same way about him. As they dealt with Kevin, Lauren and Michael fell madly in love. Ultimately, Fenmore came along from their union.
Lauren got another family member in the form of a sister — Jill Abbott (Jess Walton). They were half-sisters because Jill’s biological father was Neil Fenmore. Lauren didn’t believe it when she was first told, but their DNA test didn’t lie (hopefully).
Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) showed up, and she joined them for champagne. She called herself, Lauren, and Michael the “Dynamic Trio.” Phyllis called Lauren and Michael “relationship goals” even though they had their share of conflict. After everybody left, Michael let his wife know that he agreed with Phyllis on what a great example they’d set for everyone else. Michael made her a heartfelt vow as he kissed her hand.
