The Young and the Restless recap brings Ashley taking Jack Abbott to task because Diane is living in the same house as Summer.
Daniel refused to keep Summer’s (Allison Lanier) secret. Kyle came up with a new living arrangement for his family. Mariah talked to both Kyle and Elena. Sharon counseled Nate, while Elena made a huge decision. Now let’s dig deeper into what went down.
Sharon (Sharon Case) served Nate (Sean Dominic) coffee at Crimson Lights. She gushed about the party for Neil, but Nate wasn’t interested. Sharon wondered what was wrong. Nate told Sharon that he felt he had a shot at reconciling with Devon and Lily, but there was still lots of tension.
Nate admitted that he’d made some mistakes with his priorities, which caused his personal life to suffer. Sharon wondered if everything was okay with Elena. He said Sharon was good at giving therapy. She said it didn’t take a professional to see that something was bugging him, though.

Nate explained that his new passion for business created issues for him and Elena. Sharon wondered if Nate liked the man he saw when he looked in the mirror…in general. Nate said that he did, and he felt an excitement he hadn’t felt in a long time. Even so, he explained that he hurt Elena deeply.
He said that people had warned him that power was intoxicating, and he admitted that they were right. Nate said he got a new confidence but that he also behaved recklessly and made big mistakes. Sharon suggested that Nate could repair the damage. Nate said he couldn’t, and Sharon pointed out that he obviously knew the consequences and chose to take the risk. He agreed and said he had nobody to blame but himself.
A crying Elena (Brytni Sarpy) flashed back to moments with Nate when they discussed repairing their relationship.
Kyle (Michael Mealor) walked into Society, and he called Summer, leaving a message. Mariah (Camryn Grimes) walked in, and she asked Kyle to get a drink, but he was busy. She gushed all about Neil’s memorial, but she quickly figured out something was wrong with Kyle.
Kyle tried to split without talking, but Mariah wouldn’t let him. He let her know that Diane got out on bail, but Summer left as soon as she saw Diane at home. Mariah said she was on team Summer on this. He lamented how tough it was to have Summer believe Diane was guilty.
Kyle worried that love might not be enough, but Mariah insisted they’d make it through it. He thanked her for helping him just by listening and being a good friend. Ultimately, Mariah declared herself team love in the end.
Elena walked up to the bar at Society and ordered a whiskey. Mariah noted she had missed her at the party, but Elena didn’t know what she was talking about. Ultimately, Elena told Mariah that she and Nate weren’t speaking these days. Elena spoke about how she’d been so stupid to believe that Nate would change.
Mariah suggested maybe it was a phase, but Elena said she thought it was who Nate was now. Later, Elena returned to her room, and she thought back to her confrontation with Nate in Los Angeles. She picked up a photo of herself and Nate and smashed it against their dresser. She tearfully packed her bags and left her key with a note.
Diane (Susan Walters) lounged in Jack’s (Peter Bergman) arms on the couch in the living room. She was upset about Summer leaving, but Jack reassured her it would all be okay. They kissed, and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) and Tucker (Trevor St. John) walked in.
“Oh, my God! What are you doing here?” Ashley wondered.
Ashley yelled at her brother, and he gave as good as he got. Diane welcomed Tucker to the household. Ashley wanted to know how Jack got Diane out of jail. Jack explained they’d gotten another judge, and Ashley went off on Jack about how much he laid out for bail.
Diane suggested that she and Ashley figure things out, but Ashley said that Diane and Jack should find their own place. Of course, Diane was under house arrest. Ashley called them disgusting for forcing Summer to live with the woman charged with murdering her mother. Diane expressed that she cared a great deal about Summer, and Jack firmly said it was Diane’s home.
Summer argued with Daniel (Michael Graziadei) over telling the truth about Phyllis. She refused to let him blow everything up. Daniel didn’t think his sister could stop him, but Summer warned him not to be so sure. He insisted that he couldn’t live with the secret, and Summer was aghast that Daniel’s conscience wouldn’t let him keep it.
“Oh, my God! Get over yourself. This isn’t about you. This is about Mom,” Summer yelled.
Summer reminded Daniel he’d blown up his own family, but he said he learned from it. Daniel accused Summer of sounding like their mom, and he wondered how she could live with herself, given how upset Kyle was about Diane. Summer said she wouldn’t hurt Kyle, and she let Daniel know that Diane was out on bail.
Summer wanted Daniel to help her come up with a plan for Phyllis. A way to bring her home that didn’t end with Phyllis behind bars…a way that protected everybody. However, Daniel said he wouldn’t do it, and he declared that Kyle deserved to know the truth.
Kyle found Summer at the park, and she wondered if he’d talked to Daniel, but he hadn’t. Summer was surprised Kyle had found her, and he said he was crazy in love with her. He admitted that Summer running away from things scared him. She hugged him and professed her love.
Kyle reminded Summer that she could tell him anything, and he begged her to talk to him. However, instead of the truth, Summer said she hadn’t expected to see Diane out on bail. Summer cried as she said she was happy for Kyle that his mom was free.
Kyle suggested that they go on a trip to get away from Diane living back at the Abbott mansion. However, Summer said they couldn’t go away while his mom needed him. Kyle said that Summer was his priority, though, and Summer looked upset. She wanted to tell Harrison that Didi was back, and Kyle said they also needed to tell him about Phyllis, but Summer insisted that they wait.
Kyle and Summer walked in as Ashley and Jack yelled, and after a lot of back and forth, Kyle shouted, “That’s enough.” Jack and Ashley apologized to Summer. Kyle insisted that their bickering had to stop. Diane also apologized. Summer said she couldn’t take it anymore, so Kyle declared that they would move into the pool house with Harrison.
Upset, Daniel returned to his hotel room and poured himself a drink. He got a phone call, so he answered. Nobody talked, and Daniel said, “Mom, is that you?” He continued talking as the person on the other end remained silent. He said not to be mad at Summer telling him the truth, and he urged his mom to come home. When he heard the other person hang up, Daniel did as well and left.
Later, Kyle and Summer talked more about moving into the pool house. While Summer said that it wouldn’t actually solve things, she agreed Harrison might view it as an adventure. As they talked, Daniel stood outside the front door, watching Kyle and Summer hug. Daniel walked away.
